Use Sony and/or Sony Ericssonchargers only.To charge the battery41321Remove the cap from your Smart WirelessHeadset pro device.2Plug the charger into a power outlet.3Plug one end of the USB cable into the charger(or into the USB port of a computer).4Plug the other end of the cable into the MicroUSB port on your Smart Wireless Headset prodevice.Turning on and offTo turn on the headset•Press and hold down the power key   until thedisplay turns on.To turn off the headset•Press and hold down the power key   until thedisplay turns off.Selecting a music sourceBefore playing music, you need to select a musicsource. The headset can play music from thefollowing sources:• The FM radio.• The microSD™ card in your headset.•1 A paired Bluetooth™ compatible device,such as a phone or a computer.Access the microSD™ card and Bluetooth™music sources by first selecting  .To select the music source1Turn on the headset.2Press the Menu key   to open the menu.3Press the Next key   or the Previous key   toselect the icon for the music source you want touse.4Press the Select key  .Getting started with anAndroid™ phonePairing the headset withan Android™ phoneTo use the headset with an Android™ phone, youneed to first pair the headset with the phone. Aftersuccessful pairing, the headset connectsautomatically to the phone as soon as the headsetis turned on and within range.To enter pairing mode1Turn on the headset.2Press the Menu key   to open the menu.3Press the Next key   or the Previous key   toselect the settings icon  , then press the Selectkey  .4Press the Next key   or the Previous key   toselect Bluetooth devices, then press the Selectkey  .5Press the Next key   or the Previous key   toselect Pairing, then press the Select key  .If the headset is not already paired with aBluetooth™ compatible device, itautomatically enters pairing mode afterstarting up.To pair the headset with a phone1Phone: Under Settings, tap Wireless andNetworks > Bluetooth. The Bluetooth™function is now enabled.2Headset: Enter pairing mode.3Phone: Tap Bluetooth Settings > Scan fordevices, then tap Smart Wireless Headset proin the Bluetooth devices list.4When a Bluetooth™ pairing request appears,tap Pair on your phone and press the Select key on your headset.5After the headset is successfully paired with yourAndroid™ phone, the time appears on theheadset display, which should look similar to thefollowing illustration:  1. The time displayedis the same as that displayed on your phone. Aphone icon also appears on the headset display,indicating that your phone is paired andconnected.Installing necessaryapplicationsTo get the most out of your headset together withan Android™ phone, you need to download theLiveWare™ manager application to your phonefrom Android Market™. You also need to installthe Smart Wireless Headset pro application. If youdon't install these applications, you can not takefull advantage of the headset's functions.To install the LiveWare™ managerapplication1From your phone's main application menu, findand tap Market to open the Android Market™application.2On the Android Market™ application screen, tapthe search icon at the top right corner andsearch for "liveware manager".3Tap LiveWare™ manager.4Tap the Download button, then tap Accept &Download.To install the Smart Wireless Headset proapplication1Make sure you have LiveWare™ managerinstalled on your phone.2Pair the headset with your phone.3Follow the instructions that appear on yourphone display to install the Smart WirelessHeadset pro application.What can I do with anAndroid™ phone?After pairing the headset with your phone, you canperform a range of tasks with your headset. Forexample, you can answer and make calls, andkeep track of incoming events such as emails andtext messages. You can also play the FM radioand other music, as well as open differentapplications and edit settings.Call handlingUse the headset to manage your calls. The nameand number of a contact linked to a call is shownon the headset display. You can also use theheadset call log to make calls.To answer a call with the headset•When you hear an incoming call signal, press theAction key  .To make a call from the headset call log1Press any key to turn on the headset display,then press and hold the Action key   to openthe call log.2Press the Next key   or the Previous key   toselect the contact or number that you want tocall, then press the Select key  .3When Call? appears on the headset display,press the Next key   or the Previous key   toselect  , then press the Select key   tomake the call.Event notificationsYou can receive event notifications on the displayof your headset. Smart Wireless Headset prosupports the following event types:•Text messages•Email•Calendar event remindersTo view event notifications on the headset•When a notification arrives, press the Action key.Using Text to speechWhen notifications arrive, you can choose to havethe related event information read out loud to youin the headset. For example, you can listen toemail or text messages, or calendar reminders. Touse the Text to speech function, you first need toturn it on. Refer to the online User guide for youraccessory for more information.The Text to speech function does not supportall languages.Menu optionsWhen paired and connected to an Android™phone, the following menu appears on the headsetdisplay:You can go in to different menu options to:• Play the FM radio.• Play music from different sources, such as amicroSD™ card or Bluetooth™ compatibledevices.• Use different applications.• Edit settings.To open the menu•Press any key to turn on the headset display,then press the Menu key  .To navigate the menu1After you open the headset menu, press theNext key   or Previous key   to navigate thedifferent menu options.2Press the Select key   to open the menuoption that you have selected, or press the Backkey   to go back one step.Adding new functionalityDownload and install applications from AndroidMarket™ to your phone and add new functionalityto your Smart Wireless Headset pro device. Forexample, you can download and install the FindPhone - Smart Extras™ application which enablesyou to trigger the ringtone of your phone throughthe Smart Wireless Headset pro device.To install applications for your headsetfrom Android Market™1From your phone's main application menu, findand tap LiveWare™ manager > SmartWireless Headset pro.2Tap Smart Wireless Headset pro, then tapApplications.3Tap Search for applications or tap anapplication name under My applications.4Follow the instructions that appear on yourphone screen.You can find installed applications under themenu option indicated by   in the headset.IntroductionSmart Wireless Headset pro is a multifunctionalBluetooth™ stereo headset. Using phones that runon platforms otherthan Android™Pairing the headsetIf you are pairing your Smart Wireless Headset proheadset with a phone that does not run on theAndroid™ platform, refer to the instructions onhow to pair the headset with a regular Android™phone. Note that some of the instructions mayvary depending on the phone you are using. Aftersuccessful pairing of the headset with a phone thatdoes not run on the Android™ platform, theheadset display appears as follows:1Call handlingTo answer a call with the headset•When you hear an incoming call signal, press theAction key  .Menu optionsWhen paired and connected to a phone that doesnot run on the Android™ platform, the followingmenu appears on the headset display:MultipointfunctionalityWith multipoint functionality enabled, you canconnect your headset to more than one phone orBluetooth™ compatible device at the same time,receive phone calls from two phones, and select aphone or a Bluetooth™ compatible device tostream music from. Before you can use themultipoint functionality, you must enable it. Notethat you can only connect to a maximum of twodevices using this feature.To enable multipoint functionality1Make sure the headset is paired with a phone ora Bluetooth™ compatible device.2Pair the headset with another phone or withanother Bluetooth™ compatible device.3When Select multipoint mode? appears on theheadset display, press the Next key   or thePrevious key   to select  , then press theSelect key  .TroubleshootingNo connection to thephoneMake sure the headset is charged and withinrange of the phone. A maximum distance of 10metres (33 feet), with no solid objects in between,is recommended. Check the Bluetooth settings inthe phone, and reset if necessary. Pair the headsetwith the phone again.Music does not play in theheadset•Make sure your phone or other device is pairedwith the headset. You may have to restart themedia player and select to use the headset.•Make sure the correct music source is selected.The radio does not play inthe headset•Make sure the FM radio is selected as the musicsource.The headset turns offautomatically•The battery level is too low.
