In diagrams Aand B, the switch has no effect.• When the transmitter is placed on or near a TV, itmay pick up a noise. In such case, place thetransmitter away from the TV.2Connect the transmitter to an AC outletusing the supplied AC power adaptor.Notes• Use only the supplied AC power adaptor. Do not useany other AC power adaptor.Polarity of the plug• When you connect the connecting cord directly to anearphone jack, the audio signal will not be outputthrough the right channel. In such a case, use theseparately sold PC-236HG plug adaptor.• If the connected equipment has the AVLS (AutomaticVolume Limiter System) function, be sure to turn thefunction off when using the transmitter. Otherwise, youwill have to turn up the volume of the headphones, andthat may cause noise.• Do not place the transmitter near a fluorescent lamp, etc.when using the system.* WALKMAN is a registered trademark of SonyCorporation.Charging theheadphone batteryUsing the headphones for the firsttimeWhen you use the headphones for the first time,charge the battery in the following manner.1Connect the transmitter to a powersource.2Place the headphones on the transmitter.Place the headphones on the transmitter such thatthe charging pins on the transmitter engage thecharging contacts on the bottom of the housing.The charge indicator on the transmitter will light ingreen to indicate that the battery is being charged.Once 24 hours have elapsed since the start ofbattery charging, the charger automatically shutsoff, and the green indicator goes out.DC IN 9VOFF ONFILTERNOISE123CHANNELRBALAUDIO INOperating InstructionsManual de instruccionesWireless StereoHeadphone SystemSony Corporation © 2001 Printed in KoreaMDR-RF975RK3-233-606-11(1) Sending RF signals from the TransmitterThe transmitter starts sending the RF signalsautomatically, when it detects audio signals fromthe equipment connected.If it does not detect an audio signal for more thanapproximately four minutes, the transmitter willstop sending RF signals, and the power indicatorturns off.When the transmitter receives an audio signalagain, it starts sending the RF signals, and thepower indicator will light in red again.If the audio signal is very weak, the transmitterdoes not send RF signals. If the transmitter isconnected to a headphone jack, make sure thevolume of the equipment connected is set to 5 – 6or higher.You may not hear the beginning of the sound fromthe headphones until the transmitter starts sendingthe RF signals after detecting an audio signal.NoteIf the transmitter is connected to the headphones jack ofthe source equipment, set the volume of that equipmentas high as possible without distorting the audio signal.Auto power on/off functionWhen you remove the headphones from yourhead, the power turns off automatically. Do notallow the self adjusting band to be pulled up,otherwise the headphones will be switched on. The power turns on.NoteIf a hissing noise is heard move closer to the transmitter.After listening to a programTake the headphones off and rest them away onthe transmitter, and recharge them.NoteDo not hang the headphones by the self adjusting band,otherwise, the self adjusting band will be pulled up andthe headphones will be switched on.The effective areas ofthe transmitterThe optimum distance is up to approximately 150feet (46 m) without the system picking up someinterference. However, the distance may varyaccording to the surroundings and environment. Ifthe system picks up some noise while using itwithin the above mentioned distance, reduce thedistance between the transmitter unit and theheadphones, or select the other channel.Notes• When you use the headphones inside the effective areasof the transmitter, the transmitter can be placed in anydirection from the listener.• Even within the signal reception area, there are somespots (dead spot) where the RF signal can not bereceived. This is a characteristic inherent to RF signals,and does not indicate malfunction. Elindicador de alimentación del transmisorse encenderá en rojo.3Seleccione la frecuencia de radiodifusióncon el selector CHANNEL.4Cuando se coloque los auriculares, laalimentación se conectaráautomáticamente.5Aumente el volumen hasta un nivelmoderado con el control VOL.Presione brevemente el botón TUNINGpara sintonizar automáticamente losauriculares.Si no recibe señales de audio claras,vuelva a presionarlo.Pruebe los pasos 3 y 5 anteriores hastaencontrar el ajuste que ofrezca la mejorrecepción.Transmisión de señales de RF desde eltransmisorEl transmisor comenzará a transmitirautomáticamente señales de RF cuando detecteseñales de audio procedentes del equipo de audio.Si no detecta una señal de audio durante más deaproximadamente cuatro minutos, el transmisordejará de transmitir señales de RF, y el indicadorde alimentación se apagará.Cuando el transmisor vuelva a recibir una señal deaudio, comenzará a transmitir señales de RF, y elindicador de alimentación se volverá a encenderen rojo.Si la señal de audio es muy débil, el transmisor noemitirá señales de RF. Sinembargo, la distancia puede variar de acuerdo conlas condiciones ambientales. Si el sistema captaruido cuando lo esté utilizando dentro de ladistancia mencionada, reduzca la distancia entre eltransmisor y los auriculares, o seleccione otrocanal.Notas• Cuando utilice los auriculares dentro del área efectivadel transmisor, éste podrá colocarse en cualquierdirección con respecto al oyente.• Incluso dentro del área de recepción de señales, puedenexistir algunos puntos (puntos muertos) en los que no sereciba la señal de RF. Se trata de une característicainherente de las señales de RF y no indica fallo defuncionamiento. Moviendo ligeramente el transmisorpodrá cambiar la ubicación del punto muerto.Reemplazo de lasalmohadillas deauricularesCuando las almohadillas se ensucien o dañen,adquiera otras en su proveedor Sony.Reemplácelas como se muestra en la ilustraciónsiguiente.1Extraiga la almohadilla vieja sacándolade la ranura del auricular.2Coloque la nueva almohadilla en elauricular e inserte el borde de la mismaen la ranura, como se muestra en lailustración.Cerciórese de que todo el borde de la almohadillahaya quedado insertado con seguridad en laranura.N Información adicionalPrecauciones• Cuando no vaya a utilizar el transmisor durantemucho tiempo, desconecte el adaptador de cadel tomacorriente de ca sujetando el enchufe.
