1Test bracelets daily as detailed in these instructions, in thebracelet instructions, and the WanderGuard®Door Monitor UserManual. Record the results in the resident’s records. It isimportant to test the bracelet before putting it into use and dailythereafter. Failure to do so could result in injury to or death to aperson in your care.The Universal Tester contains a long-life lithium battery that isnot user replaceable. Do not disassemble, heat above 100oC, orsubmerge in water.WARNINGDispose of the Universal Tester immediately when low battery isindicated on the display.When testing the bracelet, make regular inspections to check forfrayed or loose bands.Stanley-Senior Technologies recommends the removal of thebracelet during x-ray or MRI procedures.Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Stanley-Stenior Technologies could void the user’s authority to operatethe equipment.CAUTION
Features of the WanderGuard®Universal Tester The Universal Tester is a hand-held, battery-powered device used to testWanderGuard®door monitors and WanderGuard®bracelets.  When using the tester to test bracelets, the tester will detect if a braceletis working properly, display the individual ID number of the residentwearing the bracelet, and indicate when the bracelet is reaching its“replace bracelet” date.The Universal Tester has a non-replaceable battery. Battery life willvary depending on usage. The battery can be expected to last 2 yearsunder typical use.* The tester will indicate when it’s battery life is low by displaying “LO”on the LCD. This message will flash three times when any button is pressed. Whenthis happens, the Universal Tester needs to be replaced immediately. Adimming display is also an indication that the battery is low and thetester needs to be replaced. 2* Based on testing 40 bracelets per day and 10 doors per week.

4Testing Bracelets“End of Service” featureThe Model 36000 series has an “End of Service” feature. During routinetesting the Universal Tester will display when the bracelet is reachingthe end of its useful service. This lets you know it is time to replace thebracelet BEFORE the bracelet becomes inoperable. Bracelets must betested daily. IMPORTANT: Failure to replace the bracelet “on time”could result in injury to or the death of a person in your care.To test a WanderGuard®bracelet with ID capability (36000 series):• Hold the Universal Tester within one foot of the bracelet.• Press the BRACELET button once. The LED above the button willlight briefly.PressbuttonThe display willanimate until abraceletis detected, or for10seconds.
5• If the bracelet is still operational, the LED will flash green four timesand the ID number of the bracelet will be displayed.• If the bracelet has reached the End-of-Service phase, the LED will be asteady red.• If the bracelet is not detected, the LED will be a steady red and display“- - -”.If the Universal Tester does not detect the bracelet:• Move the tester closer to the bracelet.• Hold the tester at a different orientation in relation to the bracelet.• ‘Sweep’ the tester by the bracelet.NOTE: Test one bracelet at a time. 6To test a WanderGuard®bracelet WITHOUT ID capability (32000 Series):• Hold the Universal Tester within one foot of the bracelet.• Press the BRACELET button once. The LED above the button willlight briefly.• If the bracelet is detected, “000” will be displayed.• If the bracelet is still operational, the LED will flash green 4 times.• If the bracelet has reached the End-of-Service phase, “000” will bedisplayed and the LED will be a steady red.LED blinksGREEN 4 timesLED is steadyREDPressbuttonThe display willanimate until abraceletis detected, or for10seconds.
• If the bracelet is not detected, the LED will be a steady red anddisplay “- - -”.If the Universal Tester does not detect the bracelet:• Move the tester closer to the bracelet.• Hold the tester at a different orientation in relation to the bracelet.• ‘Sweep’ the tester by the bracelet.NOTE: Test one bracelet at a time. 8Repeat the button press or hold the button down for continoustransmission.Testing Door MonitorsUsing the Door Test FunctionThe Universal Tester will test all WanderGuard®door monitors exceptthe FirstQTM series. Test door monitors at least weekly on each shift withall surrounding power devices turned on to maximize possibleelectromagnetic interference.PressbuttonThe Amber LEDabove the button will light.The displaywill animatewhile thebutton ispressed.
To test a WanderGuard®door monitor for bracelet detection:1. Open the door(s).2. Move to X' from the antenna of the door, and hold the tester atwaist level.3. Press and hold the DOOR button. “Door Test” will be displayed onthe System Status Display. 4. The antenna should respond with a double “chirp” noise everysecond. If the Universal Tester is not detected, insure the door test LED is onand the Universal Tester is X inches away from the antenna. Toverify your Universal Tester is working properly, try testing anotherdoor. If your Universal Tester does not work at several differentdoors, contact Senior Technologies’ Technical Service at 800-824-2996.5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each antenna if there is more than onelocated at the doorway. The Universal Tester will automatically stop after button isdepressed for 30 seconds. To test a WanderGuard®door alarm or motion detection alarm:1. Open the door(s) or activate the motion sensor with the universaltester off. 2. Move to X inches in front of the middle of the door, or middle ofdoorway if testing a double door system, and hold the tester atwaist level.3. Press the DOOR button. The alarm on the WanderGuard®doormonitor will sound as long as the door button is held. Reset thealarm. If the alarm does not sound, make sure the door is open and thetester is within X inches of the monitor. To verify your universaltester is working properly, try testing another door. If the alarm stilldoes not sound at several different doors, contact SeniorTechnologies’ Technical Service at 800-824-2996.The Universal Tester will automatically stop after button isdepressed for 30 seconds. 9

While holding the tester in a vertical position (screen facing you),place the tester in one of the positions illustrated below - you mayhave to kneel to keep the tester in the vertical position. 2. Press the DOOR button. 3. The antenna should chirp and “Door Test” will be displayed on theSystem Status Display (if installed). If the alarm does not sound, make sure the door is open and the tester iswithin X inches of the monitor. To verify your universal tester isworking properly, try testing another door.
