Intent of the Model 135 Infant ID SystemThe Model 135 Infant ID system is intended to augment existing policies andprocedures regarding the protection of newborn infants in the Maternity and Post-Partum setting.The Infant ID Cut-Band transmitter is designed to be placed on the infants ankle soonafter birth. In the event a monitored infant is taken near an exit monitored by theModel 135 Infant ID protection system, the system should arm and or lock the door. Ifthe monitored infant is taken through a monitored exit location by an unauthorizedperson, the system should sound an audible alarm indicating the exit location theinfant has been taken through.If the strap of the Infant ID Cut-Band transmitter is tampered with, resulting in tearingof the conductive traces within the strap, the Model 135 system should alert nursingstaff of the event via an audible and visual alarm condition at the Nurse Stationlocation. All exit locations monitored by the Model 135 system should arm and or lock.In the event the door is open at the exit location, the Model 135 Exit Panel at the exitlocation should alarm, alerting nursing staff of the event via an audible and visualalarm at the Nurse Station location.4Manual # A20290691 Rev 0
Ordering New or Replacement TransmittersTransmitters are purchased directly from Secure Care Products, Inc.Please Call 1-800-451-7917 when ordering transmitters.Transmitters and straps will typically be shipped two weeks after receipt of your order.Transmitter Straps and cradles are sold as a single unit for a single use and are soldin packages of one dozen.Transmitters are warranted per the attached Warranty Statement. When requestingwarranty replacement transmitters, you should call the Secure Care Products, Inc.transmitter department for instruction.Transmitters replaced under warranty are required to be returned to Secure CareProducts, Inc., postage paid, within two weeks.5Manual # A20290691 Rev 0
Infant ID Cut-Band TransmitterPart # A20290919Description: The infant ID Cut-Band transmitter is an active radio frequency (RF)transmitter transmitting a unique ID code to help distinguish individual wearing thetransmitter. The Infant ID Cut-Band transmitter transmits RF signals at 13.56 MHzwhen in the standard operating mode. In the event the strap is tampered with thetransmitter should begin transmitting a 418 MHz emergency signal. Placing the Transmitter into UseRefer to your existing policy for information regarding when to apply the transmitter tothe infant.Obtain an Infant ID with Cut-Band transmitter (Part #A20290919) and an Infant ID cut-Band Strap (Part # C42000913)Attach the Strap (with base) to the Transmitter. Be sure to attach the base in theproper orientation.Test the transmitter using the transmitter tester. (See transmitter testing instructionsfor details)The transmitter should be tested on a daily basis while in use. (see testing documentsattached.)Route the strap around the infants' ankle.Pass the strap through the clasp mechanism on the side of the transmitter.Pull any excess strap through the clasp mechanism. Be sure to leave enough excessstrap to allow for swelling that may occur while not leaving too much to prevent thetransmitter from being slipped off the infants ankle.Do not cut excess strap. Simply fasten the excess strap to the front of the transmitterusing tape.Once the transmitter has been placed on the infants ankle, the transmitter ID numberengraved on the transmitter should be recorded in the infants chart and programmedinto the ID Nurse Station. Programming ID Nurse Station Transmitter InformationThe ID System was designed to assist your facility nursing staff with the difficult task of managing your Residents, Infants, andAssets. This system was designed to identify the transmitter, who or what the transmitter is assigned to and what door thetransmitter is near. In order for the ID System to provide this valuable information, the nurse station must first be programmed withall this information. The following is a step by step procedure designed to assist while programming the ID Nurse Station.ID System ActiveInactive:0 Version: 1.331=Transmitters 2=Panels*=More 9=Quit >>1=Add\Modify 2=Delete3=Show All 9=Back >>Enter Transmitter ID # *=OKID#_ _ _ _1=up 2=dn #=bk *=OKName:_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _*=done 1=more data entrySelection: _This ID Nurse Station displayshould read the following.Now Enter *567 holding the 7until the display change to this.We will begin by entering all thetransmitter data first. Transmitter ID #,Room # then transmitter description.Press "1" on the keypad. The displayshould now read.Press "1" on the keypad. This next screen will promptyou to enter the transmitter ID # first. The transmitterID # is the last four digits of the serial # of thetransmitter.Transmitter ID #The transmitter ID # is the lastfour digits of the transmitterserial #. In this example thetransmitter ID # is 1234Once the transmitter ID has been enteredinto the keypad press "*" the display shouldchange to this.Enter room # *=okRoom # _ _ _ _Now enter the residents room #and press "*" when you arefinished. Removing the transmitter from the InfantPrior to removing the transmitter from the infant's ankle the transmitter must be placed into the"Sleep" mode. Failure to place the transmitter into the "Sleep" mode prior to removing thetransmitter from the infant ankle should result in a Cut-band alarm.To Place the transmitter into the "Sleep" mode.Press the "On" button on the transmitter tester.Place the transmitter near the transmitter tester as shown in the picture.(see picture below.)Enter *23456 (security code) on the keypad on the transmitter tester.Wait for the tester to display "Enable" within 2 secondsPress #10001 with the transmitter within 2 inchesTester will responds with either"SLEEP OK" or "SLP FAIL" after 10 seconds.With "Sleep OK" the band should be cut and the Transmitter will discontinue transmission. IF "SLPFAIL" appears the procedure should be repeated.Once the transmitter has been placed into the "Sleep" mode, cut the band and remove the cradleand remaining strap material from the back of the transmitter.Discard the used strap and cradle.Clean the transmitter with a mild disinfectant solution. Do not use alcohol or petroleum basedcleaner. Do Not immerse the transmitter in any type of solution with the strap and cradle assemblyremoved from the transmitter. (the transmitter is not water or moisture resistant when the strap andcradle are removed.)Note: When performingtransmitter testing or placing atransmitter into Sleep Mode, thetransmitter must be placed nearthe testing in the orientationshown in the picture and thetransmitter must be no morethan 3 inches for testing and nomore than 2 inches forprogrammingCleaning/Disinfecting the TransmitterThe transmitter should be cleaned and disinfected prior to use and between uses. Thetransmitter should be cleaned with a mild disinfectant solution. Do Not Immerse thetransmitter in solution with the cradle removed. It is recommended that the transmitterbe wiped down with mild disinfectant. If the transmitter requires immersion intosolution then a new cradle should be applied to the transmitter prior to immersion.
