LORD QUICKSTARTGUIDESG-Link®-200-OEMWireless Analog Input NodeThe SG-Link-200-OEM is a small, wireless, low-cost, two-channel analog inputsensor node ready for OEM integration. Featuring one differential and one single-ended analog input channel and an internal temperature sensor. The SG-Link-200-OEM supports high resolution, low noise data collection at sample rates upto 1 kHz. Users can easily program nodes for continuous, periodic burst andevent-triggered sampling with SensorConnect™.To acquire sensor data, the SG-Link-200-OEM is used with a LORD SensingWSDA gateway, and comes with the following configuration options.Configuration Option Antenna GainSG-Link-200-OEM PCBIntegrated chip antenna 1.5 dBiU.FL interface: Stub antenna, 2" cable -0.9 dBiTerminal block (optional) --Calibration Certificate --Table 1 - SG-Link-200-OEM Configuration Options ComponentsFigure 1 - Interface and IndicatorsIndicator Behavior Node StatusDevicestatusindicatorOFF Node is OFFRapid green flashingon start-up Node is booting up1 (slow) green pulseper secondNode is idle and waitingfor a command1 green blink every 2seconds Node is samplingBlue LED duringsampling Node is resynchronizingRed LED Built-in test errorTable 2 - Indicator BehaviorsWireless Simplicity, Hardwired Reliability™

2. Node Operational ModesSensor nodes have three operational modes:active, sleep, andidle. When thenode is sampling, it is in active mode. When sampling stops, the node is switchedinto idle mode, which is used for configuring node settings, and allows togglingbetween sampling and sleeping modes. The node will automatically go into theultra low-power sleep mode after a user-determined period of inactivity. Thenode will not go into sleep mode while sampling.Figure 6 - Node Operational Modes3. Install SoftwareInstall the SensorConnect software on the host computer before connecting anyhardware. Access the free software download on the LORD Sensing website at:http://www.microstrain.com/software4. Establish Gateway CommunicationDrivers for the USB gateways are included the SensorConnect softwareinstallation. With the software installed, the USB gateway will be detectedautomatically whenever the gateway is plugged in.1. Power is applied to the gateway through the USB connection. Verifythe gateway status indicator is illuminated, showing the gateway isconnected and powered on.2. Open the SensorConnect™ software.3. The gateway should appear in the Controller window automaticallywith a communication port assignment. If the gateway is notautomatically discovered, verify the port is active on the hostcomputer, and then remove and re-insert the USB connector.Figure 7 - USB Gateway Communication3SG-Link-200-OEM Wireless Analog Input Node Quick Start Guide
5. Connect to NodesSeveral methods can be used in SensorConnect to establish communication withthe nodes: the automatic node discovery on the same frequency, automatic nodediscovery on a different frequency, and add node manually.A. Automatic Node Discovery on Same FrequencyIf the base and node are on the same operating frequency, the node willpopulate below the Base Station listing when powering on the SG-Link-200-OEM.Figure 8 - Node Discovered On Same FrequencyB. Automatic Node Discovery on Different FrequencyIf a red circle with a number appears next to the Base Station, the node isoperating on a separate radio channel. Select the Base Station and thenselect the Nodes on Other Frequencies tile.Figure 9 - Node On Other FrequencyHighlight the new node being added and select Move Node to Frequency(#).Figure 10 - Move Node4SG-Link-200-OEM Wireless Analog Input Node Quick Start Guide
C. Manually Add NodeAdding a node manually requires entering the node address and itscurrent frequency setting.Figure 11 - Add Node By AddressIf the node was successfully added, two confirmation messages willappear and it will be listed under the Base Station.Figure 12 - Add Node ConfirmationIf the node failed to be added, a failure message will appear. This meansthe node did not respond to the base station which could indicate thenode is not in idle mode or it may be on another frequency. If "Add NodeAnyway" is selected, it will associate that node with the channel enteredbut it is likely there will be a communication error. If the node was not inidle, move the base station to the frequency of the node and issue a "Setto Idle" command.Figure 13 - Failure to Add Node5SG-Link-200-OEM Wireless Analog Input Node Quick Start Guide
6. Configure NodeNode settings are stored to non-volatile memory and may be configured usingSensorConnect. To access the node configuration menu,under Devices selectthe node and then the Configure tile. The configuration menus show the channels and configuration options availablefor the type of node being used. For this example the SG-Link-200-OEM tester board is on Differential channel1.1. From the Wireless Node Configuration menu, select Hardware >Input Range for Differential channel 1, select +/- 2.5 V from the dropdown menu.Figure 14 - Hardware Configuration Menu2. Under Low Pass Filter, select 552 Hz from the Filter Cutoff dropdown menu.Figure 15 - Low Pass Filter3. From the Wireless Node Configuration menu, select Calibration >Cal Tools > Shunt Cal to calibrate Microstrain.Figure 16 - Node Calibration Menu6SG-Link-200-OEM Wireless Analog Input Node Quick Start Guide
7. Configure Sampling Setting and Start Data Acquisition1. Left click on the Base Station > Sampling, and indicate the nodes to besampled by checking the box to the left of each node.2. Under Sampling, select Sample Rate from the drop down menu, selectContinuously to sample indefinitely.Figure 17 - Sampling Setting3. Select Apply and Start Network.4.
