Page 4MX-6000 TWO WAY TOUCH SCREENCongratulationsYou’ve purchased a unique synthesisof hardware and software engineer-ing, the Complete Control MX-6000.The twin goals of the design teamwere to improve the elegance andusability of touch screens through thephysical design while providing anew standard in brightness, clarityand animation for the touch screenitself.Easy OperationBy assigning the important home theater operational buttons to the natural resting place of the end users thumbs, the MX-6000achieves a new standard in use and comfort.Automatic BacklightingThe integral motion sensor detects any movement of the touchscreen and automatically backlights the screen. You do not have topress any button to display the screen. Any movement of the MX-6000 renews the backlighting. To adjust the backlighting, see page11.Programming the MX-6000To fully automate an audio/video system and integrate two wayautomation of servers etc. the programmer must have a detailedknowledge of each component, LAN configuration, WiFi optimiza-tion and how the system is connected and operated. Page 5MX-6000 TWO WAY TOUCH SCREENConnecting the Battery PackUnlock the rear cover by pressing down on the two locking tabsand sliding the battery cover forward.Remove the cover. For shipment from the factory, the battery is leftout of the MX-6000. Place the battery into the battery compart-ment, making sure you align the contacts on the battery to the con-tacts on the MX-6000. The battery will snap into place whenaligned properly.Replace the cover and snap it into place.Using the Charging BasePlug the 5V DC adapter into a power outlet and into the back ofthe charging base.Gently place the MX-6000into the cradle of the chargingbase. It automatically alignsitself to the contacts on thecharging base.The Status light should imme-diately light. Red indicatesthat it is charging. Blue showsthat it is fully charged. There isno harm in leaving the MX-6000 on its charging basewhenever it is not in use. Two Way via WiFiTo use the MX-6000 with any two way companion product, theMX-6000 must be configured by your installer to be part of a LAN(local area network) via a WiFib/g access point or router. Page 6MX-6000 TWO WAY TOUCH SCREENOptional RF “No Rules” OperationIn combination with an MSC-400 Master System Controller, or anRF Base Station, the MX-6000 can control your system withoutbeing in line-of-sight of the equipment. The MSC-400 enhances the capabilities of the MX-6000 by storingand issuing Smart Macros to your main system components. It istriggered by RF Smart Macro commands via RF (radio frequency).In addition, your MX-6000 can control components in secondaryrooms and systems via MRF-350 or MRF-260 RF base stations.4. Self-adhesive “Flashers” affix to theInfrared sensors on the front panels ofyour components.  Uniquely,  allComplete Control base stations can alsoconnect to components with rear panelIR Inputs via  adjustable IR LineOutputs. The MSC-400 offers RS-232control via rear panel connections aswell.3. The MSC-400 can control IR, RS232 and Relay con-trolled devices. 1. The MX-6000 sends radiowaves in every direction, soyou don’t have to point theremote anymore! 2. Page 7MX-6000 TWO WAY TOUCH SCREENOperating Your SystemThe MX-6000’s main pages display the activities and devices inyour system. Press the main page button to see what your choicesare. Large systems may have more than one page. Press either ofthe Page buttons if you don’t see all your devices. Gently press any screen button with your finger  to select an activi-ty or a device. The screen will change to a display of the buttonsyou need for that activity/device. The Page buttons may reveal addi-tional buttons for some devices and activities.When you would like to control another device, press the mainpage button and select a new device from the main page.The Volume andMute buttons arealways availableregardless of whatscreen is displayed.The screen buttons arelabeled dynamically andmake commonly used func-tions easy to find by feel.The Page buttonsdisplay additionalpages of controls.The combination Scroll Wheel and 4way cursor buttons enable you to bothscroll lists of artists, albums or songsfrom your Music Server or to navigateon screen guides and menus with ease.The main page but-ton in the upper leftalways displays themain menu pages. Page 8MX-6000 TWO WAY TOUCH SCREENUsing Two Way Personal Server FeaturesStep 1 – Insert an iPod into the PSX-1. TheUniversal Remote Control screen appears on theiPod. This means it’s connected to the dock andready for use with the MX-6000 remote control.Step 2 – Select the dock you want to listen tofrom the Main page of your MX-6000. Step 3 – If the system has just been turned on, you may see the mes-sage, “Connecting to iPodDock”. Once the MX-6000 hasconnected to the iPod Dock, theiPod menu screen appears. If theiPod is already playing, the“Now playing screen” appears.Step 4 – When you browse fornew content, operate the MX-6000 as you would the iPod. Press theMenu button, then place your thumb on the scroll wheel and rotateto navigate, then press the “OK” button to make your selection. TheiPod Now Playing Screen appears after a selection is made. Example:Touch  the “Artists” button to jumpdirectly to the Artists menu.Shuffle: The “Shuffle” button opens anexpanded menu of shuffleoptions. Touch any of the choicesto enjoy your music in a random order.Your unique personal server features are accessed from the left sideof the screen of your MX-6000. Simply tap the feature you want:Shortcuts to finding playlists,albums, artists, etc. withoutusing the Menu button.Shuffle exactly what youwant (this album, this artist,this genre, etc.)More from this artist, thisalbum, this genre, even thiscomposer...Jukebox lets you build andmanage your own playlistwithout accessing your PC.MX-600~080526.QXD  6/10/08  6:08 PM  Page 9
Page 10MX-6000 TWO WAY TOUCH SCREENUsing the Alpha Search Feature:The “search” button appears inthe upper right whenever you arelooking at a Menu or Jukeboxscreen. Once you click on Search,an alphabetical keyboard appears.Simply type in what you’d like tosearch for and touch “Go”. The 1, 2, 3  icon opens the numeric keypad screen. The qwerty keyboard  icon toggles between a qwerty style key-board and a simple a,b,c keyboard. The “Go Back”  icon takes you back to the menu screen.Play More From:The ”Play More From” buttonopens up a menu of choices toadd to your current selection. Bytouching the “More from thisArtist” button, all the additionalsongs, from the current Artist, willbe added to the song queue.Jukebox:The “Jukebox” button opens amenu of choices allowing you tocreate a jukebox playlist in realtime. Touch the “add song toJukebox” icon or “add album tojukebox” to add the currentlyplaying song or album to thejukebox. To play the jukebox, touch the “play jukebox” icon. To editthe jukebox, touch the “view jukebox” icon. Note: the Jukeboxplaylist is cleared when the iPod is replaced or in the event of apower failure.Edit Jukebox:Songs can be moved up, down or deleted from the jukeboxlist by using the control keys onthe right of the “view jukebox”screen. Page 11MX-6000 TWO WAY TOUCH SCREENDisplaying the Settings ScreenYou can adjust the settings of theMX-6000 whenever you like bypressing and holding both theMUTE and OK buttons for five sec-onds. When you do, the screen willchange to the SETTINGS screen. Ifyou do not press any button on theSETTINGS screen within 30 seconds, the MX-6000 will time out andautomatically return to normal operation.Adjusting BacklightingIf you uncheck the check boxes,the MX-6000 will stay lit until thebattery is exhausted. If you checkthe check boxes, you can selectfrom the list of delays. Theamount of delay you select will bethe how long the MX-6000 stayslit. You can save battery life this way.Adjusting BrightnessSimply touch and drag the bright-ness slider to the desired level.Increased brightness does affectbattery life.Button Light SettingsYou can opt to conserve batterylife by disabling the LED lightingbehind the buttons.This is done by selecting "alwaysoff".MX-600~080526.QXD  6/10/08  6:08 PM  Page 11
Page 12MX-6000 TWO WAY TOUCH SCREENSoundYour MX-6000 may have been programmed to make sounds. Thisis optional, and some professionalinstallers may prefer to keep itsilent. However, you can adjustthe volume to any level you likeby touching and dragging the vol-ume control here.Setting Time and DateYour MX-6000 may have been programmed to display the time ordate on the touch screen. If youneed to, you can adjust the timedisplayed by changing the settingson this screen. If you live in a partof the country that uses daylightsavings time, check the box nextto: "Automatically adjust time fordaylight savings time".Power SettingsYou can display the remainingcharge by selecting Power. You can also adjust when the lowbattery warning screen willappear.SystemThe System Information screendisplays data about your MX-6000's operating system, memoryetc.MX-600~080526.QXD  6/10/08  6:08 PM  Page 12

CalibrationIf you like, you can calibrate where you tap by running the calibra-tion. You will need a pen top or PDA stylus to do this. Do notattempt to calibrate using your fingers.Factory DefaultWARNING! Only use this buttonwhen instructed to by TechnicalSupport. It resets the memory ofthe MX-6000 to the factory condi-tion. Page 16MX-6000 TWO WAY TOUCH SCREENMaintaining Your MX-6000Be careful not to scratch the touch screen, only use your finger to tapthe LCD touch screen or use a plastic pen top or PDA stylus. Neveruse a real pen, pencil or any other sharp object on the screen. Keep itaway from extreme cold or heat. The MX-6000 is not waterproof. Donot use it in any location that is damp or wet. If you spill water on it,take out the battery pack and let the MX-6000 dry for 48 hours beforeyou try powering it up again. If you spill coffee or another beverageon it, clean it with distilled water. Make sure no water gets inside theMX-6000. The touch screen contains a glass element. Don’t drop theMX-6000 or impact it against anything.Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the screen. If the screen still showsfinger prints, clean it with watered down window-cleaner. Do not useanything abrasive and don’t use too much water, some might leak intothe interior.Precautions & Information: Rechargeable Lithium Ion BatteriesIf you will not be using your remote control for an extended period oftime, be sure to remove the battery. Do not attempt to disassemble,alter or apply heat to the battery. Use care to avoid dropping the bat-tery or subjecting it to severe impact that could damage the case.
