Observe thefollowing precautions when han-dling the battery for use in thisproduct:• Before replacing the battery, turnthe product off. If you are usingthe AC adapter, be sure it isunplugged.• Only use a Rechargeable Li-ionBattery EN-EL8 (supplied). Chargethe battery either by inserting it inthe camera and connecting theAC Adapter EH-64 (supplied), orby inserting it in a Battery ChargerMH-62 (available separately).• When inserting the battery, donot attempt to insert it upsidedown or backwards.• Do not short or disassemble thebattery or attempt to remove orbreak the battery insulation orcasing.• Do not expose the battery toflame or to excessive heat.• Do not immerse in or expose towater.• Replace the terminal cover whentransporting the battery. Do nottransport or store with metalobjects such as necklaces or hair-pins.•The battery is prone to leakagewhen fully discharged. To avoiddamage to the product, be sureto remove the battery when nocharge remains.• Discontinue use immediatelyshould you notice any change inthe battery, such as discolorationor deformation.• If liquid from the damaged bat-tery comes in contact with cloth-ing or skin, rinse immediately withplenty of water.Observe the following pre-cautions when handling theAC charger• Keep dry. There is noproof, however, that these lowpower wireless devices are abso-lutely safe. However, if the home wireless LAN uses a proxyserver to connect to the Internet, the COOLPIX CONNECT service is not available.lAd-hoc Mode and Infrastructure Mode• Ad-hoc mode establishes a peer-to-peer (one-to-one) connec-tion with a wireless LAN-capable device. With theCOOLPIX S50c’s wireless transfer mode, a peer-to-peer con-nection is established between the camera and computer.• Infrastructure mode connects a wireless LAN-capable device toa wireless LAN network via an access point. With theCOOLPIX S50c’s wireless transfer mode, this mode connectsthe camera and computer via a wireless LAN access point.lThe Wireless Camera Setup Utility• To use wireless transfer mode (for configuration and transferring pictures), the WirelessCamera Setup Utility 2.0 (Setup Utility hereafter) is necessary. Use the supplied WirelessCamera Setup Utility/PictureProject Software CD to install the Setup Utility.• The Setup Utility is used for configuring profiles, and must be installed to the computerused for PC connection (c124, 157).
