This revision contains changes that have occurred since the printing of youriM1100 User’s Guide. This information supersedes the correspondinginformation in the Safety section of your manual.THIS RADIO PRODUCT MEETS THE GOVERNMENT’S REQUIREMENTS FOREXPOSURE TO RADIO WAVES.Your wireless radio product is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed andmanufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radiofrequency (RF) energyset by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S. Government. These limits arepart of comprehensive guidelines and establish permitted levels of RF energy for the generalpopulation. The guidelines are based on standards that were developed by independentscientific organizations through periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies. Thestandards include a substantial safety margin designed to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. The exposure standard for wireless mobile devices employs a unit of measurement known asthe Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6 W/kg.*Tests forSAR are conducted using standard operating positions reviewed by the FCC with the devicetransmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. Although theSAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the devicewhile operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the radio device isdesigned to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to reach thenetwork. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the poweroutput. Before a radio product is available for sale to the public, it must be tested and certified to theFCC that is does not exceed the limit established by the government-adopted requirement forsafe exposure. The tests are performed in positions and locations as required by the FCC foreach model. The highest SAR value for this radio product when tested for use during packetdata transmission is 0.55 W/kg.The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization for this model wireless modem with allreported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. SARinformation on this model wireless modem is on file with the FCC and can be found under theDisplay Grant section of http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid after searching on FCC IDAZ489FT5811.Additional information on Specific Absorption Rates (SAR) can be found on the CellularTelecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) web-site at http://www.wow-com.com.*In the United States and Canada, the SAR limit for wireless modems used by the public is1.6 watts/kg (W/kg) averaged over one gram of tissue. The standard incorporates a substantialmargin of safety to give additional protection for the public and to account for any variationsin measurements.Manual RevisioniM1100 User Guide
