1 SAFETY INFORMATION1-1SAFETY INFORMATION WARNINGRead the motorcycle owner’s man-ual carefully before operating the vehicle. Do not attempt to operate the motorcycle until you have at-tained adequate knowledge of its controls and operating features.Read this audio and navigation system owner’s manual before attempting to operate the audio and navigation system. Become familiar with all controls and stop the vehicle as necessary when op-erating the audio and navigation system. WARNINGFailure to pay attention while rid-ing could result in death or serious injury.Always concentrate on riding by keeping your eyes and mind on the road.Read your owner’s manual.Safe riding and operation tipsSet-up the audio and navigation system (audio sources, volume controls, destination and route, etc) before starting off.Stop the motorcycle in a safe area when making adjustments to the audio and navigation system. Some features are disabled when the vehicle is in motion. Check vehicle messages and take corrective action as necessary. (See page 8-10.)Set volume setting levels low enough that trafc noise (sirens, horns, other vehicles) can still be heard.When using the navigation system, always give precedence to current road and trafc conditions. WARNINGThe displayed speed limit is taken from information registered in the navigation system. The actual speed limit may be dif-ferent. Always ride according to current trafc conditions.

3FUNCTION OF PARTS AND CONTROLS3-1System outlineThe audio and navigation system (hereafter referred to as "the system") allows you to perform variety of operations via its touchscreen or by using the handlebar mounted controls. (Voice activated controls are also available for equipped models.)You can, for example: play back audio sources such as an FM broadcast, Pandora Internet Radio, etc. make and receive phone calls, SNS messages, and make CB communications. (Some features require accessory parts and compatible phones.) use the unit as a navigation device (for GPS equipped models) and look up destinations nationwide. make customized settings according to your preferenceHandlebar switchesLeft/right/up/down buttons / / / Press these buttons to change the currently highlighted object on the screen.Press / to rotate among the preset stations. Press to perform seek function and search for the next receivable frequency.Select button Press this button to select the currently highlighted object on the screen.Press and hold this button to turn off the display (the audio source will not be turned off).See also “Selecting a target object on the screen” on page 4-4.Home button Press this button to return to the HOME screen at any time, or when on the HOME screen, to cycle between the Audio, Information, and Map HOME screens.Pressing and holding this button sets the currently displayed HOME screen as the default HOME screen.See also “HOME screen operation” on page 4-1.Volume up/down button / Press to increase volume.Press to decrease it.Press and hold to mute the audio source.FUNCTION OF PARTS AND CONTROLS

3FUNCTION OF PARTS AND CONTROLS3-2Talk button (rider) This button is used to open the [Teleprompter] screen (activate voice recognition), and activate the CB or intercom.Press and release .The [Teleprompter] screen appears, if so set in advance.For details, see “Voice recognition function” on page 4-11.To start intercomWhen the intercom function is activated, press and hold . While the button is being pressed and held, you can have a conversation with the passenger using the headset and microphone.See “Voice communication using intercom” on page 8-7.TIPAdjust the microphone sensitivity and the volume of the headset correctly.When a CB (citizens band) radio is connected and activatedPressing and holding starts CB radio communication.See “CB (citizens band) radio communication” on page 8-8.TIPWhen a CB radio is connected to the vehicle and is activated, and the intercom function also is activated, pressing and holding starts CB radio communication.

Open the [Communication] menu.See “[Communication] menu” on page 8-1.2. Touch [CB Radio].The [CB Radio] screen ap-pears.CB radio communication status[Add preset] button and preset channels listTo turn on/off the CB radio communi-cationIf the CB radio communication is turned off, touch [ON] to turn it on.The [ON] button changes to [OFF].Touch [OFF] to turn the CB radio communication off.You can turn on the CB radio communication by pressing and holding the talk button .The passenger can also turn on the CB radio communication by pressing and holding the talk button ( ) .To change the channelUse the button.Touch to change the channel to lower frequency, and touch to change the channel to higher frequency.Note that when CH1 is selected and you touch , CH40 will be selected; when CH40 is selected and you touch , CH1 will be selected.To preset the currently selected chan-nelTouch [Add preset], and then a place in the preset channels list where you want to add the channel.The channel will be added to the preset channels list.To adjust squelch sensitivityYou can adjust the squelch sensitibity of the CB radio device so that the best possible communication condition is obtained.Touch or to adjust sensitivity.The adjustable range is from 0/14 to 14/14.

Touch the category selector [Communi.].For details on how to make communication settings, see the respective descriptions in “Communication settings".Receiving text messages from other cell phones/smart-phonesIf the connected phone device, such as a smartphone, corresponds to a short message service (SMS), you can view received messages on the screen.The icon appears when there is an SMS message.1. Open the [Communication] menu.See “[Communication] menu” on page 8-1.2. Touch [SMS].The [SMS] screen appears.The message received last ap-pears on the top.3. Touch or , if necessary, and touch the message you want to read.The header and the message are displayed.

11SETTINGS11-2[Setting] menuWhen you go to [Setting] menu, the following [General] setting menu appears.Category selectorTo select the categoryThere are five categories in the [Setting] menu; [General], [Communi.], [Audio], [Navigation], and [Sirius XM].To select the category, touch the category selector, and then touch the desired category.If you select the [Audio] category, for example, the [Audio] setting menu appears.General settingsUse the [General] setting menu to set various usage conditions of the system.To view and reset vehicle informa-tion1. 11SETTINGS11-4To change the HOME screen and the home right button1. Go to [Setting] menu.2. Touch [Home screen].The [Home screen] screen appears. To assign a HOME screenYou can assign the following two (or three) screens as the HOME screen:  Information screen Audio screen Map screenTo assign one of the above screens as the HOME screen, touch [Home screen] and touch the screen name you want to set as the HOME screen.The following example shows that you assign the Audio screen as the HOME screen.To dene the home right buttonThe home right button is the button located at the place marked by a rectangle on the following example HOME screen.This button can be changed, according to your preference, to one of the following three or four buttons: (Audio button) (Phone button) (Function button) (Destination button)These buttons can be used as short-cut buttons for the corresponding screens.To define the home right button, touch [Home right key], and touch the desired button name.The following example shows that you select the Phone button as the home right button.
