With the back of the device facing you, lift up the back cover with your nail from the right side of your device.2. Insert your finger into the finger grip, and lift the battery from its compartment.3. Make sure that the contact area is facing down, and insert the UIM card into the card slot.4. Your device supports microSD cards that have a capacity of up to 16 GB. Nokia uses approved industry standards for memory cards, but some brands may not be fully compatible with this device. Incompatible cards may damage the card and the device and corrupt data stored on the card.1. Remove the back cover.2. Make sure that the contact area is facing down, and insert the microSD card into the card slot.3. Replace the back cover.Important: Do not remove the memory card in the middle of an operation when the card is being accessed. Removing the card in the middle of an operation may damage the memory card as well as the device, and data stored on the card may be corrupted.■Charge the batteryYour battery has been partially charged at the factory. Get started13■StylusSome functions, such as handwriting recognition, are designed to be used with a stylus. The pen stylus is located at the left side of the device.Important: Use only a stylus approved by Nokia for use with this device. Never use an actual pen or pencil or other sharp objects to write on the touch screen.■Access codesThe access code helps to protect your phone against unauthorized use. The default lock code is 1234. You can change the code, and set the device to request the code. Keep the new code secret and in a safe place separate from your device. If you forget the code and your device is locked, your device will require services. Additional charges may apply, and all the personal data in your device may be deleted. Get started14■Lock the keys and touch screenThe keyguard locks the keys and the touch screen to prevent accidental presses.To lock or unlock the keys and the touch screen, slide the lock switch on the side of the device. To lock the keys and the touch screen automatically when no keys are pressed for a certain length of time, in the home screen, select Menu > Settings > Phone > Automatic keyguard > On, and enter the desired delay time.■Touch screen actionsUse the touch screen with your finger or with a stylus (if available). Tap and double-tapTo open an application or other element on the touch screen, you normally tap it with your finger or the stylus. The phone makes logical combinations of the pinyin symbols. To input a character using the pinyin input method:1. Press the number key once for each pinyin symbol you want to input (use "v" for "u").2. Press 1 repeatedly until you get the desired tone mark.3. If necessary, press * repeatedly to highlight the desired pinyin combination.4.
