Follow the instructions carefully, to avoiddamaging the back cover.Safe removal. Always switch the device offand disconnect the charger beforeremoving the battery.1 Unlock the back cover release latch,and lift the back cover.2 If the battery is inserted, lift thebattery out.3 Insert a SIM card. Use the diagramprinted on the device to correctlyalign the card.4 Line up the contacts of the battery andthe battery compartment, and insertthe battery.5 To replace the back cover, direct thetop locking catches toward their slots,and press down until the cover locksinto place.Insert a memory cardSwitch off the device before inserting amemory card.1 Remove the back cover of the device.2 If the battery is inserted, lift thebattery out.3 Insert a compatible memory card intothe slot. 5 Replace the battery and the backcover. Make sure the cover is properlyclosed.ChargingCharge the batteryYour battery has been partially charged atthe factory, but you may need to rechargeit before you can switch on your device forthe first time.If the device indicates a low charge, do thefollowing:12You do not need to charge the battery fora specific length of time, and you can usethe device while it is charging.If the battery is completely discharged, itmay take several minutes before thecharging indicator appears on the displayor before any calls can be made.Tip: You can also use a compatible USBcharger to charge your battery.Charge the battery over USBBattery low, but you don't have a chargerwith you? Keep your device software andapplications up to dateAbout device software and applicationupdatesWith device software updates andapplication updates, you can get newfeatures and enhanced functions for yourdevice. Updating the software may alsoimprove your device performance.It is recommended that you back up yourpersonal data before updating yourdevice software.Warning:If you install a software update, youcannot use the device, even to makeemergency calls, until the installation iscompleted and the device is restarted.After you update your device software orapplications, the instructions in the userguide may no longer be up to date.Update device software andapplications using your device You can check if there are updatesavailable for your device software or forindividual applications, and thendownload and install them to your device(network service). The PINcode (4 - 8 digits) is usually supplied withthe SIM card.PIN2 code — This code (4 - 8 digits) issupplied with some SIM cards, and isrequired to access some functions in yourdevice.If you forget an access code, contact thenetwork service provider whose SIM cardis in your device. After three consecutiveincorrect PIN or PIN2 code entries, thecode is blocked, and you need the PUKcode to unblock it.PUK code and PUK2 code — These codes (8digits) are required to change a blockedPIN code or PIN2 code, respectively. If thecodes are not supplied with the SIM card,contact the network service providerwhose SIM card is in your device.IMEI number — This number (15 or 17digits) is used to identify valid devices inthe GSM network. Devices that are, forexample, stolen, can be blocked fromaccessing the network. The IMEI numberfor your device can be found under thebattery.Lock code (also known as securitycode) — The lock code helps you to protectyour device against unauthorised use. Youcan create and change the code, and setthe device to request the code. Keep thenew code secret and in a safe placeseparate from your device. If you forgetthe code and your device is locked, yourdevice will require service. Additionalcharges may apply, and all the personaldata in your device may be deleted. To use the device, you need a subscriptionwith a service provider.Using network services and downloading content to yourdevice may result in data traffic costs. Some product featuresrequire support from the network, and you may need tosubscribe to them.Take care of your deviceHandle your device, battery, charger and accessories withcare. The following suggestions help you protect yourwarranty coverage.•Keep the device dry. Precipitation, humidity, and alltypes of liquids or moisture can contain minerals thatcorrode electronic circuits. Authenticate hologram1 Look at the hologram. You should see the Nokiaconnecting hands symbol from one angle and the NokiaOriginal Accessories logo from the other angle.2 Angle the hologram left, right, down, and up. Youshould see 1, 2, 3 and 4 dots on each side respectively.However, this is not a total assurance of the authenticity ofthe battery.
