Ifso, these features will not appear on your device menu.Your device may also have customized items such asmenu names, menu order, and icons.Shared memoryThe following features in this device may sharememory: multimedia messaging (MMS), e-mailapplication, instant messaging. Use of one or more ofthese features may reduce the memory available forthe remaining features sharing memory. Your devicemay display a message that the memory is full whenyou try to use a shared memory feature. In this case,delete some of the information or entries stored in theshared memory features before continuing.During extended operation such as an active video calland high speed data connection, the device may feelwarm. In most cases, this condition is normal. You may have settings from yourservice providers already installed in your device, oryou may receive or request the settings from thenetwork service providers as a special message.You can change the general settings in your device,such as language, standby mode, display, andkeypad lock settings.Access codesIf you forget any of the access codes, contact yourservice provider.●Personal identification number (PIN) code — Thiscode protects your SIM card againstunauthorised use. The PIN code (4 to 8 digits) isusually supplied with the SIM card. After threeconsecutive incorrect PIN code entries, the codeis blocked, and you need the PUK code to unblockit.●UPIN code — This code may be supplied with theUSIM card. The USIM card is an enhanced versionof the SIM card and is supported by UMTS mobilephones.●PIN2 code — This code (4 to 8 digits) is suppliedwith some SIM cards, and is required to accesssome functions in your device.●Lock code (also known as security code) — Thelock code helps you to protect your deviceagainst unauthorised use. The preset code is12345. You can create and change the code, andset the device to request the code. Keep the newcode secret and in a safe place separate from yourdevice. If you forget the code and your device islocked, your device will require service andadditional charges may apply. Remote lockTo prevent unauthorised use of your device, you canlock your device and memory card remotely using atext message. You must define the message text,and to lock your device, send that text message toyour device. To unlock your device, you need thelock code.To enable remote locking and to define the textmessage content to be used, select Menu >Settings and Phone > Phone mgmt. >Security > Phone and SIM card > Remotephone locking > Enabled. Tap the text input fieldto enter the text message content (5 to 20characters), select , and verify the message.Enter the lock code.Prolong battery lifeMany features in your device increase the demandon battery power and reduce the battery lifetime.To save battery power, note the following:●Features that use Bluetooth technology, orallowing such features to run in the backgroundwhile using other features, increase the demandon battery power. Deactivate Bluetoothtechnology when you do not need it.●If you have set Packet data connection toWhen available in connection settings, andthere is no packet data coverage (GPRS), thedevice periodically tries to establish a packetdata connection. To prolong the operating timeof your device, select Packet data connection >When needed.●The Maps application downloads new mapinformation when you scroll to new areas on themap, which increases the demand on batterypower. You can prevent the automatic downloadof new maps.●If the signal strength of the cellular networkvaries much in your area, your device must scanfor the available network repeatedly. If the network mode is set to dual mode in thenetwork settings, the device searches for theUMTS network. You can set the device to use onlythe GSM network. To use only the GSM network,select Menu > Settings and Connectivity >Network > Network mode > GSM.●The backlight of the display increases thedemand on battery power. In the displaysettings, you can change the length of the time-out period after which the backlight is switchedoff, and adjust the light sensor that observeslighting conditions and adjusts the displaybrightness. Select Menu > Settings andPhone > Display > Light time-out orBrightness.●Leaving applications running in the backgroundincreases the demand on battery power. To closethe applications you are not using, press andhold the menu key, select Options > Showopen apps., and go to the application bypressing the menu key repeatedly. Press and holdthe menu key, and select Exit.Free memoryTo view how much space is available for differentdata types, select Menu > Applications > Filemgr..Many features of the device use memory to storedata. The device notifies you if the memory indifferent memory locations is low.To free memory, transfer data to a compatiblememory card (if available) or to a compatiblecomputer.To remove data you no longer need, use Filemanager or open the respective application. Youcan remove the following:●Messages in the folders in Messaging andretrieved e-mail messages in the mailbox●Saved web pages●Contact information●Calendar notes●Applications shown in Application manager thatyou do not need●Installation files (.sis or .sisx) of applications youhave installed. Transfer the installation files to acompatible computer.●Images and video clips in Photos. 2. If the battery is inserted, lift the battery in thedirection of the arrow to remove it.3. Pull out the SIM card holder, and insert the SIMcard. Ensure that the gold-coloured contact areaon the card is facing down and that the bevelledcorner on the card is facing the bevelled corneron the holder. Push the SIM card holder back in.4. Align the contacts of the battery with thecorresponding connectors on the batterycompartment, and insert the battery in thedirection of the arrow.5. Memory cardUse only compatible microSD cardsapproved by Nokia for use with thisdevice. Nokia uses approved industrystandards for memory cards, but some brands maynot be fully compatible with this device.Incompatible cards may damage the card and thedevice and corrupt data stored on the card.Insert the memory cardA memory card may be already inserted in thedevice. If not, do the following:1. Remove the back cover of the device.2. Insert a compatiblememory card in theslot. Ensure that thecontact area on thecard is facing downand towards the slot.3. Push the card in. Youcan hear a click when thecard locks into place.4. Replace the back cover.Keep the device facingdown when replacing thecover. Ensure that thecover is properly closed.Remove the memory cardImportant: Do not remove the memory cardin the middle of an operation when the card is beingaccessed. Removing the card in the middle of anoperation may damage the memory card as well asthe device, and data stored on the card may becorrupted.1. Before you remove the card, press the powerkey, and select Remove memory card. Transfer contentYou can use the Switch application to copy contentsuch as phone numbers, addresses, calendar items,and images from your previous Nokia device to yourdevice.The type of content that can be transferred dependson the model of the device from which you want totransfer content. If that device supportssynchronisation, you can also synchronise databetween the devices. Your device notifies you if theother device is not compatible.If the other device cannot be switched on withouta SIM card, you can insert your SIM card in it.
