Remove the back cover andbattery1. With the phone facing down, at the bottom rightcorner of the phone, put your fingernail in the smallrecess.2. Press the middle of the back cover, bend the coveropen, and remove it.3. If the battery is in, put your fingernail in the recesson its bottom edge, and lift it out.
Insert the SIM and memory card1. Slide the nano-SIM card into the SIM slot with themetal contact area down until it locks into place.2. If you have a memory card, slide the card into thememory card slot.The blue cards shown in the picture are in actual size.Use only original nano-SIM cards. Use ofincompatible SIM cards may damage the card or thedevice, and may corrupt data stored on the card.
Replace the battery and back cover1. Line up the battery contacts, and put the batteryin.2. Press the top edge of the back cover against thetop edge of your phone, and snap the cover intoplace.
Charge the battery and switch yourphone onPlug a compatible charger into a wall outlet, andconnect the cable to your phone. Your phonesupports the USB-C™ cable. You can also chargeyour phone from a computer with a USB cable, butit may take a longer time.If the battery is completely discharged, it may takeseveral minutes before the charging indicator isdisplayed.To switch your phone on, press and hold the powerkey until the phone vibrates. The phone guides youthrough the setup. Tip: You can also charge your phone wirelesslywith a compatible cover and charger. The coversand chargers may be sold separately.
Set up your Microsoft accountWhen you connect your Microsoft account to yourphone, you can get all the cool apps and gamesfrom Windows Store and keep your stuff safe withautomatic backups to the cloud with OneDrive.During the setup, you can create a new account. Ifyou sign in to any Microsoft service, such asOutlook.com (or Hotmail), Office, OneDrive, orXbox, you already have a Microsoft account. Sign inwith the same username and password.When asked, fill in your account details, and selecthow you want to get your one-time verificationcode. Type in your mail address or the last 4 digitsof your phone number. Make sure you rememberyour credentials for the account. You may needthem later. Tip: If your screen switches off, press the powerkey, and drag the lock screen up.
Navigate by touchGo back to the start screenIn any view, tap the start key .Switch between open appsTap and hold the back key , and choose the appyou want.To close an app, tap .Check the available optionsDepending on the app, tap at thebottom right corner or at the top left corner.Discover all your appsOn the start screen, swipe left to see the apps menu.To go back, swipe right.View notifications and access settingsTo quickly view missed calls and unread mails andmessages, and to access settings, open the actioncentre. Place a finger at the top of the screen, andslide it down.
Zoom in or outPlace 2 fingers on an item, such as a photo or a webpage, and slide your fingers apart or together.
Personalise the start screenAdd a background photoOn the start screen, swipe down from the top of thescreen, and tap All settings > Personalisation >Start. Switch Background to Tile picture or Fullscreen picture, and tap Browse. Tap a photo, cropit as you like, and tap .Change theme colourOn the start screen, swipe down from the top of thescreen, and tap All settings > Personalisation >Colours, and tap a colour.Resize a tileTap and hold the tile, and tap .The tiles can be either small, medium, or wide. Thebigger the tile is, the more info it can show.Add an app tileSwipe left to go to the apps menu, tap and hold theapp, and tap Pin to Start.
Move a tileTap and hold the tile, drag and drop it to the newlocation, and tap the screen.
Move your stuff to your new LumiaTo transfer your contacts, text messages, pictures,and videos, use the Transfer my Data app.On the start screen, swipe left, and tap Transfermy Data.Your old phone must support Bluetooth. Not allphones or content may be compatible with thetransfer.To transfer other content, such as music, see thesection for new Lumia users in the Lumia Help+Tips app.If your old phone is a Lumia phone and you'vebacked up the content and settings to yourMicrosoft account, sign in to your Microsoft accounton your new phone to restore the backup.
