Using RF technology allows Levitonto provide the greatest signal integrity possible. Each module in Leviton’s Vizia™ RF componentline is a Z-wave™ enabled device. In a Z-wave™network, each device is designed to act as a router. These routers will re-transmit the RF signal fromone device to another until the intended device isreached. This ensures that the signal is received byits intended device by routing the signal aroundobstacles and radio dead spots. The RZP15 Plug-InAppliance Module is fully compatible with anyZ-wave™ enabled network, regardless of themanufacturer and can also be used with otherdevices displaying the Z-wave™ logo.CAUTION:Remember to exercise good common sense whenusing the Home Automation features of yourRemote – especially when scheduling unattendeddevices. There can be some unexpectedconsequences if not used with care. For example,an empty coffee pot can be remotely turned on. Ifthat should happen, your coffee pot could bedamaged from overheating. If an electric heater isturned on by remote control while clothing isdraped over it, a fire could result. DO NOT USE theremote for the control of high power heatingappliances such as portable heaters. This devicewill not control lighting that is used with electroniclow-voltage and high frequency power supplytransformers, nor high pressure discharge lamps(HID lighting). This includes mercury-vapor, sodiumvapor and metal halide lamps.FEATURES•Switch ON/OFF•Works with Z-wave™ compatible Controllers•Scene Capable•ON/OFF LED indicates status of load•Two way communication to provide statusreporting to controllers•RF reliability•Ease of installation – No new wiring•Compatible with other Z-wave™ enableddevicesINSTALLING YOUR APPLIANCEMODULENOTE: Use check boxes when Steps arecompleted.Attaching Load to Plug-InAppliance Module:NOTE: In order to use your Vizia™ RF module in aZ-Wave™ network, it must be Enrolled in the networkusing a Primary Programmer/Controller, such asLeviton’s Cat. No., RZCPG-1LG. Before Enrolling yourmodule, please refer to the Primary Controller/Programmer instruction sheet for completeinformation. Refer to Step 3 for further details.•Locate Load to be controlled by Plug-In ApplianceModule and ensure it is fully operational. AttachLoad plug into Plug-In Appliance Modulereceptacle noting proper polarity of blades.Attaching Plug-In ApplianceModule to Wall Receptacle:•Plug the Plug-In Appliance Module into wallreceptacle. Verify that receptacle is live. Ifcontrolled by a wall switch, the switch must bekept ON at all times.Step 1Enrolling Plug-In ApplianceModule into Network:NOTES:•Some non-Leviton programmers may be built onolder Z-Wave™ libraries which may require yourmodule to be replicated in the network insteadof enrolling it in the network. First try to enrollmodule in your network. If it is unable to enroll, refer to the Primary Controller/Programmerinstruction sheet for replicating a device.A) When first powering Plug-In Appliance Module, there is a 30 second enrollmemnt access periodbefore your device times out.Within 30 seconds, depress and hold theprogramming button located on the front of themodule until the LED beneath the button turns tosolid Amber (approx. 10 seconds).NOTE: If Plug-In Appliance Module times out, unplug device from receptacle and plug back in.The 30 second enrollment access period willthen begin again.B) After LED turns solid Amber, release thebutton. The LED will start to blink Amber. The unit is now in the Enrollment/Un-Enrollmentmode.If necessary to exit the Enrollment/Un-Enrollmentmode, press the programming button.Step 2Step 3WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS:•Unplug unit when servicing fixture or changing bulbs.•Save this instruction sheet. It contains important technical data along with testing and troubleshootinginformation which will be useful after installation is complete.Step 2 cont’d.C) If using a Leviton Z-wave™ Programmer/Controller, Cat. No. RZCPG, select the MenuScreen, then select Network and scroll downto the Enrollment screen.D) While standing close to the module, select itto enroll it in the network.NOTE: Only one device may be enrolled ata time. This ensures that allinformation has been removed from your PrimaryProgrammer/Controller’s information table and is notcounted on to be a part of the mesh network.A) To Un-Enroll module, refer to Step 3A and3B to enter programming for Enrollment/Un-Enrollment mode.B) With the module now in the Enrollment/Un-enrollment mode, use your PrimaryProgrammer/Controller to Un-enroll or toremove the module from your network.NOTE: Only one module may be removedat a time.NOTE: After initial enrollment, some Z-wave™Programmer/Controllers will allow you to enterEnrollment/Un-enrollment mode using just theZ-wave™ Programmer/Controller and not having topress the programming button on the module. Followthe directions for the Z-wave™ Primary Programmer/Controller for that module.Factory Default:If your module is not responding, or you are unableto control it after you have tried to Enroll/Un-Enroll itmultiple times, it may be necessary to reset themodule to its original factory settings. The module is now reset. Once the moduleis reset, it will be necessary to re-enroll it to anetwork before it can be used.CAUTION: SETTING A DEVICE TO A FACTORYDEFAULT DOES NOT UN-ENROLL THAT DEVICEFROM A NETWORK. THE UN-ENROLLMENTPROCEDURE MUST STILL BE FOLLOWED TOREMOVE THE DEVICE FROM THE PRIMARYCONTROLLER’S INFORMATION TABLE. FAILURETO DO SO MAY RESULT IN A SYSTEM THAT ISSLOW TO RESPOND, OR MAY FAIL TO RESPONDTO SOME DEVICES.OPERATIONNOTE: For complete details on operating the PrimaryProgrammer/Controller, refer to the individual device’sinstruction sheet.ON: Press the ON/OFF button on the Plug-InAppliance Module or appropriate address “ON”button on the applicable transmitter. TheLoad will turn ON.OFF: Press the button on the Plug-In ApplianceModule or appropriate address “OFF” buttonon the applicable transmitter. The Load willturn OFF.MANUAL ON/OFF PRIOR TO ENROLLING INNETWORK: The RZP15 Plug-in Appliance Modulecan control the Load before being enrolled in theZ-Wave™ network. After powering up Plug-InAppliance Module, wait 10 seconds then use ON/OFF button to turn the Load ON or OFF.NOTE: If a power interruption should occur while themodule in ON, the light load will return to its previousstate when power is restored.TROUBLESHOOTINGIf Cat. No. RZP15 appears to be functioning improperly, proceed with the following steps:1. Confirm that the device is being supplied from a120V, 60Hz AC source ONLY.2. Confirm that the load being controlled is in properworking order. Local switch, ON (check for burned-out bulbs).3. Confirm that the load being controlled does notexceed the module limit.4.
