TrimbleKey Features and Benefits• 3.3V for batterypowered applications• Programmable powermanagement• Sized for portabledevicesLassen LP GPSLow power module for portable applicationsTrimble’s new Lassen™LP GPSis a low power miniature GPSreceiver module that is ideal forpower-conscious portable appli-cations. It is intended specificallyfor system designers and integra-tors who are developing the nextgeneration of portable devices. This embedded technology givesthe system developer the programming flexibility toachieve a significant reduction in power consumption. Power managementThe Lassen LP GPS features anew set of power managementtools that puts the power budgetdecision in the developer’s hands. The developer now can deter-mine the best balance betweenoperational frequency and powerconservation for a particularapplication. In Schedule Track™ operat-ing mode, the developer can program the unit to power up,quickly acquire satellites and out-put position to a schedule. Aftergathering satellite data and com-puting its location, the receivermay be directed to power downto a minimal mode of operationfor a programmed interval oruntil awakened by a hardwareinterruption. Schedule Trackprovides hot start performance at a programmed interval or inresponse to a hardware event.Schedule Track mode provides an advantage over normal battery-backed fast start modes with automatic wakeup to maintain current satellite data for fastest possible acquisition. Schedule Track offers the lowest power consumption in a deep sleepmode but provides position data as quickly as possible when needed.Ease of integrationLassen LP GPS provides a choiceof data protocols for maximumflexibility. The TSIP binary dataprotocol incorporates new powermanagement features and provides maximum control oversystem operation. The TAIP andNMEA protocols are availablewhere ASCII data is preferred. A secondary serial input port isavailable for RTCM SC-104 differential correction data forhigh accuracy applications. The Lassen LP GPS alsoincorporates Trimble’s antennadetection and protection circuitto monitor the condition of theantenna system. And a new highperformance, miniature 3.3 Vantenna is available for theLassen LP GPS.Getting startedThe Starter Kit makes it easy toevaluate the Lassen LP GPS andbegin development.Actual size
