The USB device may become damaged if it is already connected when the ignition is turned on.•Files that are not standard format music/image files will not beplayed.•For MP3/WMA/OGG files, only music files with compressionrates between 8Kbps ~ 320Kbps can be played.• Heed caution to static electricity when connecting/disconnectingexternal USB devices.•Encoded MP3 Players will not be recognized when connectedas an external device.•When connecting an external USB device, the device may notproperly recognize the USB is in some states.• Only products formatted with byte/sectors under 64Kbyte will berecognized.• USB devices, formatted to the FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32 file sys-tem, are recommended. iPod I 2-1702iPodUsing iPod Devices•  iPod is a registered trademark of Apple Inc.•iPod mode will not operate if the con-nected iPod cannot be recognized dueto operation of unsupported versionsthat do not support related protocols,iPod  abnormalities,  or  iPod  devicedefects. Some iPods with unsupportedcommunication protocols may not prop-erly operate with the Multimedia system.•For fifth generation iPod Nano devices,the iPod may not be recognized whenthe battery level is low. Please chargethe iPod for use. •Search/play orders shown within  theiPod device may differ with the ordersshown within the Multimedia system.•If the iPod malfunctions due to an iPoddevice defect, reset the iPod and tryagain. (To learn more, refer to your iPodmanual)•If repeatedly connect and disconnectiPod/iPhone to the Multimedia systemwith USB cable in a short time, it maycause abnormal operation. •The time for recognition of iPod/iPhonemay vary  depending on device  type,firmware version and iOS version.•For  some  iPod Touch  and  iPhonedevices, connecting Bluetooth® while theiPod is operating may result in discon-tinued iPod sound. When such deviceswith Bluetooth® support are connected,this problem occurs as the sound source is changed from the Dock Connector(USB connector cable) to Bluetooth.•To  prevent  this  symptom, BluetoothAudio function in the Multimedia systemis limited if iPod/iPhone is connectedto the system through both cable andBluetooth. To listen to the iPod sound,use either iPod menu with USB connec-tion or Bluetooth Audio with Bluetoothconnection.
2-18 I Radio/Media•To listen to the iPod sound, reconnectthe USB cable or change the audio out-put settings in iPod/iPhone to Dock.• In order to use the iPod while operatingthe keys, you must use a dedicated iPodcable. (the cable that is supplied whenpurchasing iPod/ iPhone products)※ During ACC ON state, connecting the iPod through the iPod cable (The cable that is supplied when purchasing iPod/iPhone product.) will charge the iPod through the head unit.※ The use of genuine iPod cables sup-plied by Apple is recommended. (The use of  other products may result in noise or abnormal operation.)※ To play iPod music through cable con-nection, the iPod/USB cable must be connected to the USB port in the front multibox. The USB port in the center console storage (if equipped)  is for charging only.•When connecting with the iPod cable,make sure to fully insert the jack to pre-vent communication interference. If theiPod is connected to the vehicle while itis playing, a high pitch tone may soundfor about 1~2 seconds  immediatelyafter connection. If possible, connectthe iPod  to the vehicle with the iPodstopped/paused.•Within iPhones, streaming audio andiPod control may occasionally conflict. If problems persist, remove the iPhoneand connect again.• When connecting to iPod Nano/Classic,the Kia Motor logo appears on the Apple device. For the iPod Nano 6  genera-tion, however, the logo image does notappear since it is not supported. Also, alliPhone and iPod Touch products do notsupport this function.•In  Apple’s  iOS  6.0  version or  later,Podcast  and Audiobook media filesare designed to be played  with thePodcasts and iBooks applications spe-cifically designed for Apple products. Ifthe Apple device does not provide thePodcast and Audiobook lists, the playlistmay not be displayed and played in theiPod mode.•If the Apple Podcasts and iBooks appsare not installed on the Apple device, butthe Apple device provides the Podcastand Audiobook lists, you can play files in other categories in iPod mode.•The screen of multimedia system canbe different when you run other musicplayers (e.g. iHeartRadio) on your con-nected device.
iPod I 2-1902 Caution•While using a connected iPhone/iPodTouch device, it may not operate nor-mally if the user changed some func-tions in the device.•When calling with an iPhone connec-tion, song may stop playing due to anApple device  feature.  If sound doesnot resume after the call is terminated,check the device status. • If lots of songs have the same informa-tion, skipping may occur when previous/next song is executed due to an Appledevice  feature.  Also  problems  mayoccur depending on device type or iOSversion.• If lots of songs have the same informa-tion, the song that plays may be differ-ent between the system and the Appledevice. Reset the device or delete thesame songs in the Apple device usingiTunes. •If you control pause, repeat, shuffle, orseek songs when the play time is lessthan 3s before the song is finished play-ing, it may occur difference of playingsong between the Multimedia systemand Apple device. Access to iPod musicfrom another mode or pause a song and then play a song again in Apple device.•If  the  iPhone/iPod Touch  supportsBluetooth, the Apple device will not beable to use the Bluetooth function if thedevice is connected through both theUSB port and via Bluetooth. Disconnectthe USB connection then use BluetoothAudio.•If  iPod/iPhone  connected  to  theMultimedia system through both USBand AUX.  iPod/iPhone  keeps outputsound via AUX, thus it may occur soundwill not output in iPod mode.•If AUX cable connected to iPod/iPhonebut not connect to the Multimedia sys-tem, it may occur sound will not outputin iPod mode due to iPod/iPhone’s fea-ture. Especially, if you use AUX cablelike pictures, this problem may occur. • Disconnect AUX cable from iPod/iPhonefirst, then  connect to  the Multimediasystem via USB. Or change settings to“Dock” in iPod/iPhone.•If connect  to the Multimedia  systemwhile podcast or iTunes music down-loading to iPod/iPhone, it may occursome problems when you select songin the list. Reconnect iPod/iPhone to theMultimedia system when downloadingis finished or the file deleted.•If connect  to the Multimedia  systemwhile sync, it may occur some problems. Try to use iPod/iPhone connection aftersync complete. (To learn more, refer toyour iPod manual)

NOTICE•If only a  cable is connected to  the AUXwithout an external device, the mode willbe changed to AUX, but noise may occur. 03Before Using the Bluetooth® Handsfree I 3-3CAUTIONS upon Connecting Bluetooth® Phone•  Before connecting the head unit with the mobile phone, check to see that the mobile phone supports Bluetooth® features.•Even if the phone supports Bluetooth® Wireless Technology, the phone willnot be found during device searches ifthe phone has been set to hidden stateor the Bluetooth® power is turned off. Disable the hidden state or turn on theBluetooth® power prior  to searching/connecting with the head unit.•If  Auto  Connection  is  used,  theBluetooth® phone is automatically con-nected when the ignition is turned on,making it unnecessary to have to con-nect the phone with the head unit everytime.• If you do not want automatic connectionwith your Bluetooth® device, turn theBluetooth® feature off of the Bluetooth®device.•Park the vehicle when connecting thehead unit with the mobile phone.•Bluetooth® connection may  becomeintermittently  disconnected  in  somemobile phones. Follow these steps to tryagain.1. Turn the Bluetooth® function within the mobile phone OFF/ON and try again.2. Turn the mobile phone power OFF/ON and try again.3. Completely remove the mobile phonebattery, reboot, and then again.4. Reboot the Multimedia System andtry again.5. Delete all paired devices from both ofPhone and Head Unit sides and thentry again.•The Handsfree call volume and qualitymay differ  depending on the mobilephone.•Pairing Bluetooth® devices and use ofother Bluetooth® features are not sup-ported when the vehicle is in motion.
