While the system is off, press the POWER/VOL knob to turn the system on. 3.  The system will automatically restore the most recently played mode. For example, pressing the POWER/VOL knob will turn on the system and display FM radio mode if FM mode had been the last operated mode prior to turning off the system.4.  You can also turn the system on by pressing the  FM/AM ,  SAT  and  MEDIA  keys. Note●Pressing any one of the  FM/AM ,  SAT , and  MEDIA  keys will turn on the system and display the last mode corresponding to each key. For example, pressing the  MEDIA  key while a CD or other media source is loaded, will turn on the system and display CD mode if the last operated MEDIA mode prior to turning off the system had been CD mode.2. Turning System Power Off1. While the system is on, press the POWER/VOL knob to turn off the system.Note● If the system power was on when the ignition was turned off, the system will turn back on automatically. Conversely, if the system power was off when the ignition was turned off, the system will remain off.● If the battery voltage is low, the audio may take a prolonged time to boot upon turning on the vehicle.
  PART 1. GETTING STARTED    1-7 GETTING STARTEDSelect Display LanguageThe UVO system allows you to select the preferred display language for maximum convenience and system usability. The system provides you with options of three languages - English, French (Canadian) and Spanish. The default language is English.1.   Press  the  SETUP  key on the control panel. 2. Press the  Main  button.3.  Press  the  English  button next to the Language menu.4.  Select the desired language. 5.  The system will reboot and automatically restore the most recent mode in the new language.Resetting and Initializing  UVO system 1. Resetting the systemIf the system is behaving abnormally, press the reset button to reset the system.1.  Use a ball-point pen or similar object to press the  RESET  key.2.  The system will reboot and automatically restore the most recent mode.  Caution●The reset button should only be used in case of system malfunction. Never use the reset key while the system is operating normally as it may cause damage to the system. ●If you wish to reset while the system is operating normally, turn the power off first then reset.

Press the  Factory defaults  button.Note●Initializing the system will erase all Phone settings, and other changes which you have made to the system. ●Some songs in the USB or CD may be misrecognized during the indexing process. The system allows you to optimize various sound settings to add convenience when listening to the system. Press the  Sound  button on the main screen of each audio mode (FM/AM, SIRIUSTM, MEDIA, PANDORA Radio, JUKEBOX) to enter Sound Setup.Note●Changes are saved as they are made. In other words, once you change a setting, the new setting will become saved.1. FADER/BALANCEFader/Balance allows you to adjust the position of sound within the vehicle. For instance, adjusting the sound so that it is closer to the driver-side seat will proportionally lower the volume in the passenger-side and rear seats.1.  Press the Fader/Balance setting button.2.  Use  the ▲, ▼, ◀, ▶ buttons to make adjustments to the sound position.3.  Press  the   button to return to Sound Setup.Note●Press the  Default  button to restore the default setting.

Touch Screen BeepTouch Screen Beep allows you to turn on/off the beep that sounds when you touch the screen. 1.  In Sound Setup, press the     On  or    Off  button next to the Touch Screen Beep menu to turn the feature on or off. 4. Speed Dependent Volume ControlSpeed Dependent Volume Control allows you to automatically control the volume according to the speed of the vehicle. This feature will gradually increase the volume as speed increases to offset outside noise.1.  Press  the     On  or     Off  button next to the Speed Dependent Volume Control menu to turn the feature on or off.

Press the  SETUP  key on the control panel. 2.   Press  the  Display  button to enter Display Setup mode.Note● Changes are saved as they are made. In other words, once you change a setting, the new setting will become saved.1. Setting Brightness The UVO system allows you to control the screen brightness automatically and manually.●Automatic Brightness Control   When the Display brightness is set to automatic, the brightness will be controlled automatically by assessing the amount of ambient light. 1.  Press the  Display  button.   2. Press the      Automatic  button.●Manual Brightness Control1.  Press the  Display  button.

Press  the  FM/AM  key to switch to the desired radio band.Note●Each press of the  FM/AM  key will change the band in the order of FM → AM → FM.●Even when the system power is off, press the  FM/AM  key to turn on the most recently played FM/AM mode.●The RDS (Radio Data System) operates in areas with FM stations broadcasting RDS signals.1. Selecting a broadcast frequencyThe UVO system provides you with various ways to search for radio broadcasts. There are 3 ways to select radio broadcasts- selecting through SEEK, selecting through manual search, and selecting through presets.● Selecting through SEEKPress the    SEEK TRACK ∧ or         SEEK ∨ TRACK keys on the control panel for under 0.8 seconds. As SEEK operates, the previous or next radio broadcasts with high quality reception will automatically be searched and played.Note●While SEEK is operating, pressing the same SEEK∨TRACK∧ key will terminate SEEK. Pressing the opposite key will operate SEEK in the reverse direction. ●Press and hold the    SEEK TRACK ∧ or         SEEK ∨ TRACK keys (over 0.8 seconds) to quickly move through the frequencies while the button is pressed and held. Once released, the system will automatically search and play the previous or next frequency.

Each click will increase or decrease the frequency by 1 step (FM: 0.2MHz, AM: 10kHz).2.  When you find the desired radio broad-cast, stop turning the  TUNE  knob to lis-ten to the selected frequency.● Selecting through preset1.  Press  the  Presets  button.2.  Select the desired preset and press the button to start listening.Note●Press the ∧, ∨ keys (under 0.8 sec-onds) on the steering wheel controller to flip through the presets sequentially. ● Press and hold the ∧, ∨ keys (over 0.8 seconds) on the steering wheel controller to operate SEEK.2. Storing presetsPresets are a way for you to save your favorite radio broadcasts. Up to 12 presets can be saved in FM mode while up to 6 frequencies can be saved in AM mode. 1. Select the desired radio broadcast.2. Press the  Presets  button.3.  From the preset list, press and hold (over 0.8 seconds) the preset number button to which you wish to save. 4.  The current radio broadcast will automati-cally be saved to the preset number. A beep will signify that the preset has been saved if the beep is set to ON in the sound settings.
  PART 2. AUDIO FEATURES    2-5 AUDIO FEATURES3.  Scanning FM/AM broadcast frequenciesRadio broadcasts can be scanned to conve-niently find radio broadcasts with high quality reception. Each radio broadcast will be played for 5 seconds. This feature is particularly use-ful when traveling in new areas.1. Press the  Scan  button.Note●When scanning has completed an entire revolution, the scan function will terminate automatically and the previously played fre-quency will be restored.4.  Preset ScanPreset scan will scan presets in the current band (FM-12 presets, AM-6 presets)in sequential order. Each preset will be played for 5 seconds. 5.  Listening to HD RadioTM Stations   (Optional)HD RadioTM Technology is a digital radio tech-nology used by AM and FM radio stations to transmit audio and data via a digital signal in conjunction with their analog signals. 1.  While listening to the radio, the HD RadioTM icon will become displayed if receiving an HD RadioTM broadcast. 2.  Press  the  HD▶ button to change to a dif-ferent HD RadioTM station. 6. Viewing FM/AM Station information When listening to an HD RadioTM station or RDS radio station, you will be able to view sta-tion information. 1.Press the Radio icon.2.  Information about the current station (fre-quency, station, artist, title) will be displayed.

Select the desired SIRIUSTM channel.2.  Press  the  Presets  button.3.  From the preset list, press and hold (over 0.8 seconds) the preset number button to which you wish to save. 4.  The current radio broadcast will automati-cally be saved to the present number. A beep will signify that the preset has been saved if the beep is set to ON in the sound settings.4. Viewing SIRIUSTM channel information1.  Press  the  SIRIUSTM icon.2.  Information about the current channel (channel, category, artist, title) will be displayed.
2-10    PART 2. AUDIO FEATURESPART 2      AUDIO FEATURESMEDIA MODEThe MEDIA mode within your UVO system offers a variety of media modes which allow you convenience and ease in operating your system. Media mode includes a variety of modes, such as audio CD, MP3 CD, USB, iPod®, zune®, BT audio, Aux and PANDORA. The features listed below describe common features which you will encounter when oper-ating Audio CD, MP3 CD, USB, iPod®, zune®, and JUKEBOX modes.Common Features●Play/Pause1.  Insert or connect the desired media (Audio CD, MP3 CD, USB, iPod®, zune®) or press the  MEDIA  key on the control panel if the desired media has already been inserted or connected.2.  Each press of the  MEDIA  key will change the mode in the order of CD → USB/iPod®/zune® → JUKEBOX → AUX → BT Audio → Pandora → CD.3.  When a desired media is playing and you wish to pause, press the  ll  button next to the progress bar. Press the  ▶ button to restart the song.●REW/FF1.  Press and hold the   SEEK TRACK ∧ or        SEEK ∨ TRACKkeys (over 0.8 seconds) on the control panel or the ∧, ∨ keys (over 0.8 seconds) on the steering wheel controller.2.  The song will rewind or fast-forward at a rate 20 times faster than normal while the key is being held. 3.  Release the key to play from the current position. Note●If you rewind to the beginning of the current song, the current song will automatically begin playing. ●If you fast-forward to the end of the current song, the next song will automatically begin playing.

You can jump to different points in a song by touching the position on the progress bar.  ●Using RepeatThe repeat setting can be used to repeat the song that is currently playing.1.  Press  the  Repeat  button. The 'Repeat' icon will be displayed.2.  Press once to turn on the Repeat setting and again to turn off.●Using ShuffleThe Shuffle setting can be used to play all song in the current mode randomly. 1.  Press  the  Shuffle  button. The 'Shuffle' icon will be displayed.2.  Press once to turn on the Shuffle setting and again to turn off.

AUDIO FEATURESPART 2      AUDIO FEATURESAUDIO CD MODECautions upon handling Audio CDs Precautions upon handling discs ● Store discs within their intended cases to prevent scratches. ● Never use heart-shaped, octagon-shaped or any other abnormally shaped discs.  ● Never expose discs to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Such expo-sure may lead to disc deformation. ● Never clean with solvents, such as anti-static sprays, cleaners, benzene, or thinners.  ● Dust, scratches, and other foreign sub-stances may cause popping sounds as well as sound deterioration. ● Never place paper on either side of the disc or write on disc surfaces. ● Clean fingerprints and dust off the signal surface (coated side) of the disc with a soft cloth. ● Copy-protected CDs, such as S-type CDs may not operate properly in the system.       ●Data CDs are not supported by the system. For safe and efficient operation ● Never disassemble the CD Player(CDP) for repair purposes. Contact your place of purchase in case of malfunction. (Full service assistance will not be provided if the user disassembles the device.) ● Never use water to clean the system.   ●Use caution not to introduce foreign sub-         stances into the disc slot. ● The system may not operate in extremely hot or cold temperatures. (The opera-tional temperature range is: 14℉ ~ 149℉). ● Steam may condense on the fiber optic lens due to rain, wet conditions, or heat caused by system operation.  ● Never clean the system with chemical solvents. Always use a clean and dry cloth.1. Supported disc format ● The disc types supported by this device are as shown below. AUDIO FEATURES    2-13 AUDIO FEATURES● CD-R or CD-RW DISC burned with a bulk CD without quality guarantees may not be recognized by the device.  ●Inserting an abnormal disc may result in faulty operation.2. Disc/content format and compatibility  Ordinary disc compatibility ●This system has been designed to be compatible with software bearing the fol-lowing logo marks.  ●CD-R/RW discs (Audio CD and MP3 CD) created with CD-writing devices or per-sonal computers may not operate properly.   Special formats or special features regarding software  CD-R/RW Compatibility ●This system operates as a CD-ROM and supports CD-R and CD-RW discs in CD audio or MP3 CD format.  ●CD-R/RW discs burned as audio CDs which have not been finalized are not supported by the device. However, some information, such as play time, may still be displayed.  PC-created DISC compatibility ●When burning a disc with a personal computer, even discs compatible with the formats described above may not oper-ate properly due to software settings within the burning application. In such cases, contact the software developer.●Additional information regarding compati-bility can be found on the CD-R/RW soft-ware disc box. ●DVD-R/RW discs are not supported by the device. Compressed audio compatibility  This system plays audio files compressed by MPEG-1 audio stream layer 3(MP3) using 32, 44.1 and 48kHz fixed bit rates. Incompatible files are not supported. ●Variable bit rate files may operate, but the play time information may not be properly displayed. ●Physical formats of CD: Model 1, Model 2 XA format 1. ●This system only supports tracks with file extension of ".MP3" or ".WMA". ●This system does not support multises-sion discs. ●This system supports a maximum of 256 folders and maximum 512 files. Folders and files which exceed this limit will not be supported.●There are various bit rates which can be encoded onto MP3 files. This system has been designed to be compatible with vari-ous bit rates. Audio which has been encoded at 128kbps will sound similar to CD audio sound quality. Although this device supports low bit rate MP3 files, such files may result in a low quality sound. ●For stable operation, the use of files in 95kbps~192kbps bit rate range and 44.1kHz sampling frequency is recommended. ●For Mixed CDs (MP3+CD-DA), only CD-DA files will be recognized and supported.

To play BT audio, pair a handset device with the system. If Bluetooth® wireless technology is disconnected while playing BT audio, music play will be discontin-ued. The audio streaming function may not be supported in some handset devices. Only one function can be used at a time between the Bluetooth® wireless technology handsfree or BT audio function. After setting up a paired link, the handsfree system will always remember your handset device. Once the system is paired with the device, your hand-free system can be set so that it automatically connects to your handset each time you start your vehicle.  Caution●For safety, make pairings between your handsfree system and handset only while the vehicle is parked.Pairing a Bluetooth® wireless technology enabled device for the first time1. Release the connection lock and try connecting the mobile phone with the system again.●The mobile phone battery icon and signal strength icon may not be properly displayed depend-ing on the type of mobile phone.●Call waiting is supported only when connected mobile phones support this feature. The call waiting pop-up may not be displayed in some mobile phones.●Streaming audio mode will operate only when a Bluetooth® wireless technology enabled phone has been connected. There are still a few points you should observe to help reduce noise interference. ●Keep doors, windows and the sunroof closed to help avoid noise interference from outside the car. Voice command performance can be improved if the cabin environment is quiet.● Press the voice recognition button and say the voice command after the sound of the beep.● Speak continuously and at normal volume, avoiding unnatural emphasis and pauses between words.●Avoid causing background noise in the car while you are speaking, and ask your passengers not to speak while you are giving voice commands.● As the handsfree microphone is positioned to pick up the driver's voice, commands by other occupants may be understood with less accuracy, and passengers are advised to use the handset when making calls.The Kia Voice Recognition System may have difficulty understanding some accents or uncommon names. You can quit/resume a reading session, but the system cannot be interrupted while it is creating the profile. 1. Press the  Voice  button.2. Warning●Settings can not be adjusted while driving. Park the vehicle in a safe and legal location before making any changes to your Settings.UVO eServices Activation1.  Press  the  eServices  key and then the  Settings  button on the touch screen.2 .  If UVO eServices has not yet been acti-vated, press the  Activate  button to start the process.Note●For more information on UVO eServices activation, refer to ‘Activating UVO eServices’. 911 Connect Setting1.  Press  the  eServices  key and then the  Settings  button on the touch screen.  2.  To  enable  911 Connect, ensure that the      On  button is selected. To disable this feature, ensure the       Off but ton is selected.

When enabling this feature, you must first agree to the 911 Connect terms of use.After reading the terms of use, press the Agree  button on the touch screen to accept.Trip Info Sync Reminder SettingUVO eServices sends trip information (i.e. Driving Distance, Driving Speed, Driving Time and etc.) to MyUVO.com regularly. Trip Info Sync Reminder feature is the function that give a notice when trip information needs to be transmitted to MyUVO.com. 1 .  Press  the  eServices  key and then the  Settings  button on the touch screen.2.  To  enable  Trip Info Sync Reminder, ensure that the       On  button is selected. To dis-able this feature, ensure the       Off  button is selected.

UVO eServicesPART 5      UVO eServices My Car Zone SettingThis feature is used to set My Car Zone (Curfew Limit, Speed) alert conditions.My Car Zone Setting is unavailable when UVO eServices has not been activated.1.  Press  the  eServices  key and then the  Settings  button on the touch screen.2.  Press the My Car Zone setting button. 3. The PIN must be entered to use My Car Zone Settings.4. Press the  Change  button to change Curfew Limit and Speed Alert conditions.Within Curfew Limit Alert Settings, you can set the Start and End Time for Curfew Limit. You can also set alert interval of Curfew Limit.To enable Curfew Limit Alert, ensure that the      On   button is selected.

You can also set alert interval of the speed limit.To enable Speed Alert, ensure that the       On   button is selected.Change PINThis feature is used to change the PIN to enter My Car Zone Settings.1. Press the  Change  button of PIN.2. Enter new 4 digit PIN.3.  After changing the PIN, press the Change  button to transmit the new PIN to your MyUVO.com account.

Select the Time Zone that you want to set. Daylight Saving SettingThis feature is used to set Daylight Saving Time for My Car Zone.To enable Daylight Saving, ensure that the      On   button is selected.Restore Factory SettingsThis feature is used to restore all My Car Zone alert history and settings back to default state.1. Press the  Restore  button.

Rear Camera DisplayPART 6      Rear Camera DisplayRear Camera Display● The UVO system is equipped with a Rear Camera Display.  ● The Rear Camera Display System uses an exterior camera integrated to the rear of the vehicle that sends video to the UVO system. ● Regardless of the mode you are in, placing the gear shifter is set to Reverse, or "R", will automatically display the rear view camera screen.1. Place the transmission in Reverse “ R ”. WarningCheck surroundings for your safety.●The Rear Camera Display is equipped with an optical lens necessary to help acquire a wider field of vision and may result in a display which differs from the actual distance.       Always check the rear and left/right directions when driving in reverse.●  The  Rear Camera Display is not a substitute for proper and safe backing-up procedures. The Rear Camera Display may not display every object behind the vehicle. Always drive safely and use caution when backing up.2. The Rear Camera Display will activate.
