PN SC-ZWAVE5-ECO R1.01 SIREN+CHIME (Z-WAVE PLUSTM) PRODUCT OVERVIEW The Ecolink Siren+Chime is a Z-Wave PlusTM enabled device intended to integrate into a Z-Wave PlusTM home automation network for the purpose of sounding a siren or chime when told to do so by a controlling device. It can be used to sound its siren when a house has been broken into; to chime when a monitored door or window is opened; and to give audible user feedback on the state of the security system with entry-delay and exit-delay tones.  Plug and Play for Z-Wave Plus enabled Alarm Systems  Chime (Programmable) to alert when zones are opened  120 dB Siren  Can be plugged into any AC outlet and screwed into faceplate for solid installation PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS  For indoor use only  Operating Frequency 908.42 MHz  Operating range: Up to 100 feet (30.5 meters) line of sight  Operating temperature: 0˚C to 49˚C, 32˚F to 120˚F (ambient temperature) HOW DO I USE THIS? The Siren+Chime can be enabled through “scenes” to make noise under certain conditions defined in your scene. A scene on some gateways can be called an “automation,” or a “Smart App.” However, not every Z-Wave PlusTM controller allows our devices to appear for the user to properly use and control via their user interface. You should check with the manufacturer of your particular Z-Wave PlusTM controller to see if they support our device explicitly. If they do not explicitly support our device, it may still work with limited functionality. In fully supported controllers, the Siren+Chime device would show up as such, and all or most functionality will be enabled within the user interface, otherwise this device may appear as a generic electric outlet and be controlled as if it were a lamp. An incomplete list of compatible Z-Wave PlusTM gateways may be found on our website at www.discoverecolink.com. If your Z-Wave PlusTM controller only allows the Siren+Chime to be controlled as if it was single electric outlet, you can choose whether your Siren+Chime is just a siren or just a chime via the jumper labeled “J5” on the back of the device. With the jumper placed, the device will enable its chime functionality, and with the jumper removed (default) the siren functionality is enabled.

PN SC-ZWAVE5-ECO R1.01 If the Siren+Chime is semi supported via its multiple endpoints, the Siren+Chime may appear on the user interface as a collection of switches or power outlets. The Z-Wave PlusTM protocol is an interoperable, wireless, RF-based communications technology designed specifically for control, monitoring and status reading applications in residential and light commercial environments. It is a mesh network that can allow non-sleeping devices to extend the range of an existing network. The Z-Wave Plus protocol is a standard governed by the Z-Wave PlusTM alliance, and allows for most certified Z-Wave PlusTM devices to communicate and interoperate with each other. For a more complete look at Z-Wave technology for non-technologists, and to learn more about Z-Wave's role as a key enabling technology for the Internet of Things and connected objects, please visit www.z-wave.com. HOW CAN I ADD IT TO MY EXISTING NETWORK? 1. As stated above, be sure that our device is enabled to work with your Z-Wave PlusTM controller (hub). 2. Plug the Siren+Chime into the wall and observe the LED’s behavior. If after 10 seconds, the LED fades from on to off continuously, this means that the Siren+Chime is ready to be added to your Z-Wave PlusTM network. If LED turns off, that means that the Siren+Chime is already learned into an old Z-Wave PlusTM network and must be excluded first. To do this, follow the directions below on removing a Z-Wave PlusTM device or factory defaulting the device. 1. Unplug the Siren. 2. Follow your Z-Wave PlusTM controller’s instructions for activating its Add (Z-Wave PlusTM inclusion) mode. 3. Plug the siren in to power. On power-up, the Siren+Chime goes into learn mode. Wait 10 seconds for user feedback that your Z-Wave PlusTM controller’s inclusion mode has completed. HOW CAN I REMOVE IT FROM MY NETWORKOR AN OLD NETWORK?
© 2016 Ecolink Intelligent Technology Inc. PN SC-ZWAVE5-ECO R1.01 Any Z-Wave PlusTM controller can remove any Z-Wave PlusTM device from any network. The following steps remove the old Node ID that may be on your device preventing you from adding it. 1. Unplug the Siren. 2. Follow your Z-Wave PlusTM controller’s instructions for activating its remove (Z-Wave PlusTM exclusion) mode. 3. Plug the siren in to power. On power-up, the Siren+Chime goes into learn mode. Wait 10 seconds and for user feedback that your Z-Wave PlusTM controller’s inclusion mode has completed. If successful, the Siren+Chime will beep and the LED will fade on and off continuously. If this does not seem to be working, then either repeat from step 1 or factory reset the device. HOW CAN I FACTORY RESET THE SIREN+CHIME? To restore the Siren+Chime back to factory default settings and also remove any Z-Wave PlusTM node ID from the device follow these steps: 1. Unplug the Siren+Chime. 2. Hold the button down on the left side of the device. 3. While continuing to hold the button down, plug the Siren+Chime into power, and continue holding the button down for 10 seconds until the Siren+Chime starts to beep. 4. Release the button and observe if the LED starts to fade on and off continuously. 5. Your Siren+Chime is factory reset and ready to be added to your Z-Wave PlusTM network. IT’S ADDED. HOW DO I USE IT? The Siren+Chime has what are called “endpoints”. These make the single device appear on supported Z-Wave PlusTM controllers as multiple devices or rather explicitly breakout the various functionality of the Siren+Chime, i.e. the Siren and the Chime as separate devices that can be used in a home automation “scene.” Your controller’s manufacturer may have another word for a scene. If you see only one device, and that one device has only an ON or OFF button, then the Siren+Chime is not fully supported, but it may still be possible to use the device the way you intend to by controlling the main endpoint. The main endpoint, by default, is the Siren, but this can be swapped with the Chime functionality and is selected via a jumper on the back. When this jumper is shorted, the main endpoint will chime, so a user could set a scene for doors and windows to activate the Chime when they are opened or closed. Z-WAVE PLUSTM SPECIFIC INFORMATION The following is information that can be used by Z-Wave PlusTM controller manufacturers and home automation enthusiasts to integrate the Ecolink Siren+Chime into their ecosystem and fully support all functionality. ACTIVATING SOUNDS We make use of the multichannel command class by having four endpoints each represents a different sound and can be activated by sending either a Basic Set or Binary Switch Set.
© 2016 Ecolink Intelligent Technology Inc. PN SC-ZWAVE5-ECO R1.01 The device supports the Basic Command Class by mapping it to a Binary Switch Command Class. A 0xFF hex is ON while a 0x00 is an OFF. The chime sound is very short and turns off by itself which might be a bit of an issue for gateways that poll for the latest state with a get after a set. ASSOCIATION This device has a single association group which is group #1, and it can have 1 node in the group. It is intended for receiving unsolicited reports as a part of the test button on the Siren+Chime. TESTING THE Z-WAVE PLUSTM NETWORK The Siren+Chime has a test button on the side of the device which will send a frame to the node as association group 1. If the frame is successful in reaching node 1, the Siren+Chime will make a chime sound. If the reception is poor the led will stay on while it retries and will make a low pitched single beep on failing to reach the destination node.
