Dongle User’Guide Aug02/BtrekRefV1/GpoV1 4. Dongle status and LED indication The dongle was designed to be very easy to use for a daily use. But it is important to understand how to configurate this device before you use it. So please read carefully the information just below : 4.1. The dongle can have four modes : 4.1.1. Switch off This mode is very simple to recognise because the LED is always off. When you are in one of the mode 2,3 or 4 please press 2 to 3 seconds until you see green and red LED together. Then you relaese the button and the LED becomes off. 4.1.2. Standby mode The dongle is in this mode when the green LED (or red when the battery is low) is flashing slowly. Be carefull because the flash is short every 7 seconds. To go in standby mode be sure first your dongle is switched off. Then press the button for aroud 3 seconds until you see the led on then release the button. You will see the red LED on and quick flashes of the green LED. The number of green flashes indicates the profile number which is programmed. Then the green LED (or red if the battery is low) will flash slowly. 4.1.3. Pairing mode The dongle is in this mode when you can see an alternating very quick flash of the red and green LED. To go to pairing mode be sure first your dongle is switched off. Then press the button for around 10 seconds until you see aternating quick red and green flashes. Actually to go to pairing mode you go first in standby mode (don’t release the button) then the LED switches off for around 1 second (you still have to keep pressed the button) and just after you will see the quick flashes. You can now release the button. 4.1.4. Profiles mode This mode was created for the first time in the world by Innovi. This mode allows you to have only one device, your dongle, able to work with almost all non Bluetooth mobile phone on the market. By choosing the mode according to your mobile phone (see appendix) the electronic adapts automatically the signals to the dedicated cable provided with the dongle. The programmation of the profile has to be done only once when you have a new phone or when you change it. Each phone has a profile. Sometimes this is the same so you don’t need to reprogram it. Page 7 of 16 Innovi Technologies Ltd Suite 501-3, 5/F, Chinachem Leighton Plaza, 29 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay, Hong KongTel: (+852) 2882 2296, Fax: (+852) 2882 2316 Email: sales@innovi.com, Web: www.innovi.com
Dongle User’Guide Aug02/BtrekRefV1/GpoV1 The dongle is in this mode when you see the red LED on and flashes on the green LED. Each flash in quick succession means the profile number. For example one quick flash means profile numer one, three flashes in quick succession mean profile number 3 etc. There are 5 possible profiles. So you have 5 differents type of flashes on the green light. To go to profiles mode be sure first your dongle is switched off. Then press the button for around 14 seconds until you see the red LED on together with quick green flashes. Now you can release the button. Be carefull not to be confused with the beginning of the standby mode which indicates only once the default profile. So you have to keep pressed the button in order to pass through the standby mode and the pairing mode then you access the profiles mode. To change the profile you have first to be in profiles mode. Then observe the number of green flashes. For example 2 quick flashes means you are in profile number 2. If you press the button once (quick pres) so you will go to the next profile. In our example you can see now 3 quick flashes. Then one more press you go to the profile 4 and so on. After profile number 5 you go to profile number 1. Actually you browse in a loop until you access the required profile. After choosing the right profile you have to save it as the default profile by switching off your dongle. So please press few seconds until you see the 2 LED on continuously. Then release the button. Your dongle is now off. To check if everything is good you switch on your dongle then you can see the number of green flashes telling you the default profile you’ve just programmed. Dongle User’Guide Aug02/BtrekRefV1/GpoV1 6. Connecting your dongle (put pictures) Your mobile phone has to be switched on. Before you connect your dongle it has to be in standby mode with the pairing done and the good profile programmed. Then it is very important to plug first the extremity to the dongle. Then you connect the other extremity to the mobile. If the connection is good you should be able to see the hands free logo on the display (if available because some phone doesn’t have this logo). Dongle User’Guide Aug02/BtrekRefV1/GpoV1 7. Incoming Call Before you use for the first time your dongle please read carefully all details in the appendix concerning your mobile. The action you have to take depends on your phone. Basically there are two families : 7.1. Nokia and Ericsson phones When you receive a call : 1- The green led flashes quickly (red led is used if the Battery Voltage is low) in both side 2- A ring tone is played in the BlueTrek speaker 3- To answer the call press shortly any button on BlueTrek until you can hear a bi-tone 4- Then the Voice connection is established, 5- The green led (or red led if voltage battery low) lights on continuously on the dongle and with quick flashes on Bluetrek. Comments : in order to avoid any malfunctioning it is very important, when you have an incoming call, to wait until you hear the ring in the headset and not on the phone. In case you take the call when you hear the ring on the phone you might have some problems. Actually when the phone rings, the dongle has to establish the link to the headset before you can hear the ring in the headset. It can take few milliseconds to 1.5 seconds depending on the phone. 7.2. Others than Nokia or Ericsson Basically you have to choices : automatic or manual answer. 7.2.1. Automatic answer Put your phone into automatic answer. When you have an incoming call you have nothing to do. Only waiting until you can hear in the headset the voice of your interlocutor. 7.2.2. Manual answer When you have an incoming call you answer directly on your phone. Then you wait until you can hear in the headset the voice of your interlocutor. Comments for both types of answers : depending on the phone you can have a period of time between the automatic answer from the phone and the connection establishement (from few milliseconds to 2 seconds). Page 11 of 16 Innovi Technologies Ltd Suite 501-3, 5/F, Chinachem Leighton Plaza, 29 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay, Hong KongTel: (+852) 2882 2296, Fax: (+852) 2882 2316 Email: sales@innovi.com, Web: www.innovi.com
Dongle User’Guide Aug02/BtrekRefV1/GpoV1 8. Volume Control With the use of the dongle you have two ways to adjust the volume : First you can directly adjust the volume on your phone. Actually the dongle is working like a wired hands free so that you adjust the volume on your phone. Secondly you can adjust the speaker volume on BlueTrek by pressing button 1 to increase the volume or button 2 to decrease the volume. Comments : the volume adjustment can be completely different depending on your phone. So please be sure not to put to high the volume otherwise you might have some problem like distortion, echo, abnormal vibration. In general we recommend to adjust your phone in the middle position then you adjust your headset according to the environment. 9. Ending a Call You have two possibilities to end a call. Either directly on your phone or from your headset. 1/ On your phone You cut the line on your phone then you wait until your dongle and your headset return to standby mode. Please refer to the appendix for profile 4. 2/ From your headset You can only have this option if, of course, you could previously take the call with your headset. To end a call from BlueTrek keep pressed any button on the headset until you hear a bi- tone. The headset and the dongle return to standby mode. Dongle User’Guide Aug02/BtrekRefV1/GpoV1 11. Transferring a Call to the Mobile Phone When the BlueTrek is in active call, to transfer the call to your mobile phone you only have to disconnect the cable from the mobile. Normally when you disconnect the cable both devices should return to standby mode. If you reconnect it you could use again your headset. 12. Transferring a Call to the headset When the mobile phone is in active call, to transfer the call to the headset : 1- Switch on BlueTrek and the dongle (both of them are in standby mode, the dongle is paired with the correct profile programmed), 2- Connect the cable first to the dongle then to the mobile, 3- The audio connection is transferred atomatically (you have to wait 1 to 3 seconds) to BlueTrek and the green led (or red led if voltage battery low) lights on continuously on the dongle. The conversation can goes on through BlueTrek. Comment : if you want to take back your converstation directly on the phone you only have to disconnect the cable. And if you want to use again the headset you only have to reconnect the cable (at that stage no need to press any button on the BlueTrek headset, the link is automatically released).
