To replace the battery pack:1 Remove the battery pack, then unplug the connector.2 Insert a new battery pack plug into the connector, then place the battery into the slot.Installing Optional BatteriesInsert 3 AA batteries (optional; not included) into the battery compartment matching the marked polarity.Using an AdapterYou can also power your radio with a 6V AC or DC adapter (not supplied) connected to your radio’s DC 6V jack. You must use a Class 2 power source that supplies 6V DC and delivers at least 300mA. Its center tip must be set to positive and its plug must fit your radio’s 6V jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage your radio or adapter.NOTE Using the Radio1 Turn the VOLUME knob to turn on the radio and adjust the volume.2 Use the BAND knob to select a radio band.3 Use the TUNING knob to tune to a station.• For best FM/WX reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna.• The radio has a built-in AM antenna. When charging your mobile phone, be sure to connect the Ni-MH rechargeable battery to your radio.NOTE Listening Safely and Traffic SafetyTo protect your hearing, follow these earphone guidelines:• Do not listen at extremely high volume levels. Extended, high-volume listening can lead to permanent hearing loss. • Set the volume to the lowest setting before you begin listening. After you begin listening, adjust the volume to a comfortable level.• After you set the volume, do not increase it. Over time, your ears adapt to the volume, so a level that does not cause discomfort might still damage your hearing.• Do not wear earphones while operating a motor vehicle or riding a bicycle. This can create a traffic hazard and is illegal in some areas.• Even though some earphones are designed to let you hear some outside sounds when listening at normal volume levels, they still present a traffic hazard.www.radioshack.comFCC InformationThis equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
