The Setup Wizard will use this connection todetect what type of Internet access you have. Verify that you are set up cor-rectly to your Internet connection and click the Next button to continue.4. Next, you will be asked what type of Internet connection you are using, asshown in Figure 5-3. Click the DSL or Cable button, whichever is appro-priate for your type of connection.21Instant Wireless®SeriesChapter 5: Setting Up the Dual-BandWireless A + G Broadband RouterWhen you are ready to connect the Router to your network, the Router’s SetupWizard will take you through all the steps necessary for configuration.1. Insert the Setup Wizard CD into your PC’s CD-ROM drive. Your PC musthave an active Internet connection. 2. The screen in Figure 5-1 should appear on your monitor. If it does not, thismeans the autorun is not functioning. Start the Setup Wizard manually byclicking the Start button, selecting Run, and typing d:\setup.exe (where“D” is your PC’s CD-ROM drive). To set up the first computer connectedto the Router, click the Set Up First Computer button. When you are readyto set up additional PCs, click the Set Up Additional Computer(s) button.Clicking the User Guide button opened this User Guide. To exit this SetupWizard, click the Exit button.20Note: While the Router has been designed to work correctly rightout of the box, setting it up on a wireless computer will require youto use the Linksys default settings. (Thispassword should bechanged from theWeb-based Utility’sPassword tab forgreater security.)7a. When connecting to the Internetthrough a Static IP Address:The Setup Wizard will now askyou to make changes to your PC’sTCP/IP settings. Follow theinstructions shown, clicking theNext button to continue.If you are using Windows 98 orMe, the instructions will start asshown in Figure 5-9.23Instant Wireless®Series5. Now, power off your modem and disconnect your Internet connection.Then, connect the Router as shown on the screen displayed. If you have acable connection, you will see a screen similar to that shown in Figure 5-4.If you have a DSL connection, you will see a screen similar to that  shownin Figure 5-5. When the connections are made, click the Next button to con-tinue.6. Power on your modem and connect the power to the modem and the Router.As shown on the following screen, verify that the Router’s LEDs are cor-rectly lit. If you have a cable connection, you will see a screen similar tothat shown in Figure 5-6. If you have a DSL connection, you will see ascreen similar to that  shown in Figure 5-7. When the LEDs are lit appro-priately, click the Next button to continue.If you are using a Static IP Address to connect to the Internet, proceed tostep 7a. If you are using a DHCP connection, proceed to step 7b.
