Yet it also features a touch control panel through excellent scratch Capacitive glass, and is powered by Android, offering Google suite applications, including access to thousands of Android application through Google Play Store. Make sure the contacts of the battery are aligned with the connectors on the battery compartment.SD CardSIMNote: To remove the battery, use your fingertip to lift and remove the battery.SD CardSIMReplacing the Back Cover1. Engage the hooks on the top of the back cover with the designated holes on your phone.2. Push the back cover rmly to secure it into place.3. Press and hold the bottom of the back cover.4. Slide the back cover latch to the left to the lock the back cover.Charging the Battery Before charging the battery, ensure that it has been properly inserted into your phone. 1. Connect the USB cable that came with your mobile phone to the charger. 2. Open the USB port cover. Connect the USB cable to the USB port of your phone.3. Then, plug in the charger to an electrical outlet. Note: In the event that the battery has been discharged completely for extended periods, there may be a delay before the charging animation displays on the screen.SD CardSIM4312
CAT B15 Smartphone User Manual4Important Information About the Battery If the battery has not been used for a long period of time, you may not be able to power on your mobile phone immediately after you begin charging the battery. Allow the battery to charge for a few minutes with the phone powered off before attempting to power on the phone. The on-screen charge animation may not be displayed during this period.Over time, the battery will not hold a charge for as long as it did when it was new. When the battery life becomes noticeably shorter than usual after being charged properly, replace the battery with a new one of the same type. Using data services increases demand on the battery and will reduce the length of time it can hold a charge. The time required to charge the battery depends on the environmental temperature and the age of the battery. When the battery power level is low, the phone plays an alert and displays a prompt. When the battery power is almost exhausted, your phone will power off automatically.Powering On or Off Your Mobile Phone Powering On Your Mobile PhonePress the Power button. The rst time you power on your phone, you will be asked to sign in to your account and set up your mobile phone. Note: If personal identification number (PIN) protection is enabled on your SIM Card, you must enter your PIN before using the mobile phone. Powering Off Your Mobile Phone 1. Press and hold the Power button to open the Phone options menu.2. Touch Power off. 3. Touch OK.Getting to Know the Home ScreenAfter you sign in, or when you power on the phone, the Home screen opens. The Home screen is your starting point to access all the features on your phone. It displays application icons, widgets, shortcuts, and other features. You can customize the Home screen with different wallpaper and display the items you want.The home screen has the Launcher icon ( ). Touch this to view and launch installed applications (apps).
CAT B15 Smartphone User Manual 5Using the Touchscreen Touchscreen Actions Touch: Touch using your ngertip to select an item, conrm a selection, or start an application. Touch and hold: Touch an item with your ngertip and continue to press down until your mobile phone responds. For example, to open the options menu for the active screen, touch the screen and hold down until the menu appears. Swipe: Move your nger across the screen either vertically or horizontally. For example, swipe left or right to switch between pictures. Drag: Touch and hold the desired item with your nger. Drag the item to any part of the screen. You can drag an icon to move or delete it. Rotating Your Mobile Phone DisplayThe orientation of most screens will rotate with the phone as you turn it from upright to sideways and back again. See “Auto-rotate screen“ on page 34.Locking and Unlocking the Screen Locking the Screen When your mobile phone is on, press the Power button to lock the screen. When the screen is locked, you can still receive messages and calls. If you leave your mobile phone undisturbed for a while, the screen will lock automatically. Unlocking the Screen Press the Power key to wake up the screen. Then drag the lock icon ( ) to the unlock icon ( ) to unlock the screen.To use the Camera ( ) or Google Search ( ) function directly, drag the lock icon ( ) to the respective icon.Note: If you have set up a screen unlock pattern, you will be prompted to draw the pattern on the screen to unlock it.

The notication panel also informs you about alarms and settings — for example, when an alarm is activated. Open the notication panel to see who the wireless network operator is or to view a message, reminder, or event notication. Opening the Notification Panel 1. When a new notication icon appears on the notication bar, touch the notication bar, and then drag down to open the notication panel. 2. Touch a notication to open the related application. Closing the Notification PanelTo directly close a notication (without viewing), simply touch and hold the notication and drag it to the left/right of the screen. To close the notication panel, slide the bottom of the panel upwards to close the notications panel.Shortcut IconsAdding a New Screen Item 1. From the Home screen, touch . Then touch the APPS tab to display the applications.2. To add an item, drag the application icon to a specic Home screen.Moving a Screen Item 1. Touch and hold an application icon on the Home screen until the icon enlarges.2. Without lifting your nger, drag the icon to the desired position on the screen, and then release it. Note: There must be enough space for the icon to fit on the current Home screen.Removing a Screen Item 1. Touch and hold an application icon on the Home screen until the icon enlarges.2. Without lifting your nger, drag the item to Remove. 3. When the item turns red, release your nger to remove it from the Home screen.

Several widgets are installed on your phone by default. More widgets can be downloaded from Google Play Store. To add a widget to one of the screens:1. From the Home screen, touch . Then touch the WIDGETS tab to display the applications.2. To add an item, drag your desired widget to a specic Home screen.FoldersCreating a FolderDrag the application icon or shortcut and drop it on top of similar applications.Renaming a Folder1. Touch a folder to open it.2. On the title bar of the folder, enter the new folder name.3. When complete, touch the Back key.WallpapersChanging the WallpaperOn the Home screen, touch and hold the screen. The Wallpaper option pops up:Touch • Gallery to select a picture and set it as the wallpaper.Touch • Live Wallpapers to select the desired live wallpaper and set it as the wallpaper. Touch • Static Wallpapers to select the desired static wallpaper and set it as the wallpaper.Touch • Video Wallpapers to select the desired video wallpaper and set it as the wallpaper. Touch • Wallpapers to select the desired wallpaper and set it and set it as the wallpaper.Using the USB Mass StorageUsing the microSD Card as USB Mass Storage To transfer all your favorite music and pictures from your PC onto your mobile phone’s microSD card, set the microSD card as USB mass storage.1. Connect your mobile phone to your PC with the USB cable. (When connecting the phone to a computer for the rst time, the PC will install the necessary drivers automatically)2. Touch Turn on USB storage in the dialog box that opens to conrm that you want to transfer les. Your PC will detect the microSD card as a removable disk. You can now transfer les from your PC to your phone’s microSD card.Note:While USB mass storage function is enabled, some functions may not be available.

Rather thanpowering off your phone, you can set it to Aeroplane mode.1. Press and hold the the Power button.2. Touch Aeroplane mode in the options menu.Or using the Settings application, access the WIRELESS & NETWORKS menu to enable the Aeroplane mode.PhoneThere are several ways to place a phone call. You can dial a number, select a number in your contacts list, on a Web page, or from a document that contains a phone number. When you are on a call, you can either answer incoming calls or send them to your voicemail box. You can also set up conference calls with several participants.Making a CallTo make a call, you can use the Phone application, or select a number from People or CallLog.When you are on a call, you can press the central Home button to return to the Home screen and use other functions. To return to the calling screen, drag the notication bar down and touch Current call.Note:Be careful not to block the microphone with your fingers.Making a Call with the Dialer1. Touch on the Home screen display to display the dialer. If you are already working with Contacts or Call Log, touch the Phone tab. Or you can touch and then Phone ( ).2. Touch the appropriate numeric keys to enter the phone number. Tip: Your mobile phone supports the SmartDial function, that is, when you touch numbers on the dialer, the phone automatically searches among your contacts and lists the matching results based on the accuracy. Close the keypad to view more possible matches.3. After entering the number, or selecting the contact, touch .Note:You can also specify the desired network that you want to use for data connection. See “Set up the Default Network“.

Touch of the contact you want to call.Answering and Rejecting a CallAnswering or Rejecting an Incoming CallWhen you receive a phone call, the incoming call screen opens with the caller ID and any additional information about the caller that you have entered in People.• To answer a call, touch and drag it to the right ( ).• To reject the call, touch and drag it to the left ( ).Note:When you touch , it automatically changes to .Ending a CallDuring a call, touch to hang up.Other Operations During a CallMaking a Conference CallIf you receive a new call while you are already on a call, you can connect the second callto the call you are on. This feature is known as conference calling. You can also set up aconference call with multiple callers.Note:Contact your network operator to learn whether it supports conference calls and how many participants you can add.1. To initiate a conference call, dial the number of the rst person to be on the call. While you are on that call, touch .2. Enter the phone number of the person you want to join the conversation and touch , or select someone from your Call Log or People. The rst call is automatically placed on hold.3. Once you have connected to the person you have added, touch to begin the conference call.

To end the conference call and disconnect everyone, touch .Switching Between CallsIf you receive a new call while you are already on a call, you can switch between the twocalls.1. The current call is placed on hold and you are connected to the other call.Using Call logThe Call log contains a list of calls that you have dialed, received, or missed. You can usethe call log to quickly nd a recently called number or add an incoming number to yourcontact list.Adding an entry to People1. Touch on the Home screen, then touch Call Log tab.2. Touch and hold the entry you want to add.3. Touch > CREATE NEW CONTACT.4. Enter the contact details and touch Done.Removing an entry from the list1. Touch on the Home screen, then touch Call Log tab.2. Select the entry that you want to delete.3. Touch the Menu key and then touch Remove from call log.Clearing the call log1. Touch on the Home screen, then touch Call Log tab.2. Touch the Menu key and then touch Delete > > > OK.

After you save the contact information on your mobile phone, it gives you easy access to people with whom you want to communicate.Opening the People ApplicationIf you have a new mobile phone and have not yet added any contacts, Contacts displays amessage with hints on how to start adding contacts to your mobile phone. To open the application, do one of the following:Touch • and then People ( ) to display the contact list.Touch • on the Home screen, then touch People tab.All of your contacts are displayed alphabetically in a scrolling list.Copying ContactsYou can copy contacts to and from the SIM card, the device, memory card, or USB storage.1. In the contacts list, touch the Menu key, and then touch Import/export.2. Select the source location of the contacts that you want to copy and touch Next.3. Select the destination location to copy the contacts and touch Next.4. Select the contacts to copy and touch .Adding a Contact1. In the contacts list, touch to add a new contact.2. Select the location you want to save the contact to.3. Enter the contact’s name, and then add any detailed information such as phone number or address.4. When you are nished, touch Done to save the contact information.Adding a Contact to Your Favorites1. Touch the contact you want to add to Favorites. 2. Touch and the icon turns white ( ).Searching for a Contact1. In the contacts list, touch to search for a contact.2. Enter the name of the contact for which you are searching. As you type, contacts with matching names appear below the search box.

In the contacts list, touch the contact whose details you want to edit.2. Touch the Menu key, and then touch Edit.3. Touch the category of the contact information, such as contact’s name, phone number or email address, to enter that kind of information about your contact.4. Make the desired changes to the contact information, and then touch Done. To cancel all changes you have made to the contact information, touch the Back key.Communicating with Your ContactsFrom the Contacts or Favorites tab, you can quickly call or send a text (SMS) or multimedia message (MMS) to a contact’s default phone number. You can also open details to view a list of all the ways you can communicate with that contact. This section describes how to communicate with a contact when you view your contacts list.Communicating with a Contact1. In the contacts list, touch the contact that you want to communicate.2. In the contact’s details screen, you can do one of the following:Touch the phone number to make a call.• Touch • to send message.Touch • to make a video call.Deleting a Contact1. In the contacts list, touch the contact that you want to delete.2. Touch the Menu key, and then touch Delete.3. Touch OK to conrm that you want to delete the contact.Using the Onscreen KeyboardDisplaying the Keyboard PanelTo enter text, use the onscreen keyboard. Some applications open the keyboard automatically. In others, touch a text eld to open the keyboard. To open the keyboard, touch the space where you want to write the text. Touch the Back key to hide the keyboard.Using the Landscape KeyboardIf you nd the keyboard inconvenient or difcult to use, turn your mobile phone sideways. The screen will display the keyboard in landscape orientation, providing you with a wider keyboard layout.

On Android keyboard option, touch to customize the Android keyboard settings.MessagingThe Messaging application allows you to exchange text messages (SMS) and multimediamessages (MMS) with anyone using an SMS or MMS-capable phone. With the Emailapplication you can read and send emails.SMS and MMSOpening MessagingTo open the application, do one of the following:Touch • on the Home screen. Touch • > Messaging ( ).Creating and Sending a Text MessageThe Messaging window opens, where you can create a new message or open an ongoingmessage thread.1. Touch to start a new text or multimedia message or touch an existing message thread to open it.2. Enter a phone number in the To eld, or touch to select a contact from People. As you enter the phone number, matching contacts appear. You can touch a suggested recipient or continue entering the phone number.3. Touch the composition text box to start entering your message.If you touch the Back key while composing a message, it is saved as a draft in your message list. Touch the message to resume composing it.4. Once you are done, touch .Note: Responses appear in the window. As you view and send additional messages, a message thread is created.Creating and Sending a Multimedia Message1. On the messaging screen, touch .2. Enter a phone number in the To eld, or touch to select a contact from People.3. Touch the composition text box to start entering your message.4. Touch the Menu key to display the options panel, and then touch Add subject to add the message subject.

Touch .Customizing the Message SettingsIn the message list, touch the Menu key, and then touch Settings to customize the message settings.EmailYour mobile phone puts email at your ngertips, too. Using your Email application, you can congure it for most popular email services. These types of email accounts are known as POP3, IMAP, or Exchange.Opening EmailTo open the application, do one of the following:Touch • on the Home screen. Touch • > Email ( ).Adding an Email AccountWhen using the Email application for the rst time, you must congure your email account. The Email setup wizard helps you set up your account for many popular email systems, so you can read and work with the same email that you do on a computer in a web browser, or with another email application.1. Touch CANCEL to discard the changes.Enjoying MusicYou can transfer music les from your PC to your microSD card so you can listen to music on your mobile phone.Copying Music to the microSD Card1. Connect the phone to your computer with a USB cable and mount the microSD card.2. On the PC, navigate to the USB drive and open it.3. Create a folder in the root directory of the microSD card (for example, Music).4. Copy the music from your computer to the folder you have created.5. If you add, change, or delete your information in any of these applications on the web, the updated information also appears on your mobile phone.This is made possible through over-the-air data synchronization. The process occurs in the background and does not interfere with the use of your mobile phone. When your phone is synchronizing, a data synchronization icon will be shown in the notication bar.Managing Your AccountsYou can synchronize contacts, email, and other information on your mobile phone with multiple Google accounts or other kinds of accounts, depending on the applications installed on your mobile phone.For example, you can start by adding your personal Google account, so your personal email, contacts, and calendar are always available. You could then add a work account, so your work-related emails work contacts are handy. If you like, you may add multiple Google accounts or other accounts.Adding an Account1. Touch > Settings ( ).2. In ACCOUNTS, touch Add Account. The screen displays your current synchronization settings and a list of your current accounts.Note: In some cases, you may need to obtain account details from network administrator support. For example, you may need to know the account’s domain or server address.3. Touch the account type to add.4. Follow the onscreen steps to enter the required and optional information about the account. Most accounts require a username and password, but the details depend on the kind of account and the conguration of the service to which you are connecting.5. Congure the account. Depending on the kind of account, you may be asked to congure what kind of data you want to sync to the mobile phone, to name the account, and for other details. When you are nished, the account is added to the list in the ACCOUNTS settings screen.Removing an AccountYou can remove an account and all information associated with it from your mobile phone, including email, contacts, settings, and so on. You cannot, however, remove some accounts, such as the rst account you signed into on the mobile phone. If you attempt to remove certain accounts, be aware that all personal information associated with it will be deleted.1. On the ACCOUNTS settings screen, touch the account type.2. You can also congure what kind of data you synchronize for each account. Some applications, such as Contacts and Gmail, can synchronize data from multiple applications. Others, such as Calendar, synchronize data only from the rst Google account you signed into on your phone, or from an account associated specically with that application. For some accounts, synchronizing is two-directional; changes that you make to the information on your mobile phone are made to the copy of that information on the web. Some accounts support only one-way synchronization; the information on your mobile phone is read-only.Changing an Account’s Synchronization Settings1. On the ACCOUNTS settings screen, touch the account whose synchronization settings you want to change. The data and synchronization screen opens, displaying a list of the kinds of information the account can synchronize.2. Selected items are congured to synchronize to your mobile phone.3. Select or clear the check box of information you want to synchronize to the mobile phone.Using Other ApplicationsUsing the CalendarUse Calendar to create and manage events, meetings, and appointments. Depending on your synchronization settings, the calendar on your phone stays in synchronization with your calendar on the web.Opening the CalendarTouch > Calendar ( ) to open the application. Touch the Menu key to display various view and settings options.Creating an Event1. On any calendar view, touch and hold the screen and touch the New event option.2.
