Temperature sensorImportant guidelines for installing your Baby Monitor• To use your video monitor baby and parent unit together, you must be able to establish a radio link between them, and the range will be affected by environmental conditions. • Any large metal object, like a refrigerator, a mirror, a filing cabinet, metallic doors or reinforced concrete, between the baby and parent unit may block the radio signal. • The signal strength may also be reduced by other solid structures, like walls, or by radio or electrical equipment, such as TV's, computers, cordless or mobile phones, fluorescent lights or dimmer switches. • Use of other 2.4GHz products, such as wireless networks, Bluetooth systems or microwave ovens may cause interference with this product, so keep the baby monitor away from these types of products, or turn them off if they appear to be causing interference. • If the signal is poor, try moving the parent and/or the baby unit to different positions in the rooms.

Safety InstructionsWARNINGThis baby monitor is compliant with all relevant standards regarding electromagnetic fields and is, when handled as described in the User’s Guide, safe to use. Therefore, always read the instructions in this User’s Guide carefully before using the device.• Adult assembly is required. Keep small parts away from children when assembling.• This product is not a toy. Do not allow children to play with it.• This baby monitor is not a substitute for responsible adult supervision.• Keep this User’s Guide for future reference.• Do not place the baby unit or cables in the crib or within arm's reach of the baby (the unit should be at least 3 feet away).• Keep the cords out of reach of children.• Do not cover the baby monitor with a towel or blanket.• Never use extension cords with power adaptors. Only use the power adaptors provided.• Test the baby monitor before use. Become familiar with its functions.• Do not use the baby monitor near water.• Do not install the baby monitor near a heat source.• Only use the chargers and power adaptors provided. Do not use other chargers or power adaptors as this may damage the device and batteries.• For the parent unit, only insert a rechargeable battery pack of the same type. For the baby unit, use non-rechargeable batteries and insert with the correct polarity, as indicated in the battery compartment and in “2.1 Baby unit battery installation”. • Do not touch the charger or plug contacts with sharp or metal objects.CAUTIONRisk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

Getting started 7ENGLISH2. Getting started2.1 Baby unit battery installationThe camera uses either 3 AA size batteries (non-rechargeable batteries recommended) or the household mains electricity. The Baby unit has no charging function!IMPORTANTThe non-rechargeable batteries for the Baby unit are not supplied with your product. We recommend the batteries to be installed before use, so that the unit continues to work in the event of a mains power failure.1. Loosen the screw in a counterclockwise direction using a small screwdriver. Remove the battery cover.2. Install the 3 AA non-rechargeable batteries following the polarity as shown in the compartment. Close the battery compartment and tighten the screw in a clockwise direction.3. Slide the power switch to the ON position. The power LED will light up in green. To switch off the baby unit, slide the power switch to the OFF position.NOTEWhen the battery level is low, the power LED will turn orange and will flash.WARNINGDo not mix old batteries with new ones. Keep batteries away from small children. Do not short-circuit batteries or dispose of in fire.Remove the batteries if this device is not going to be used for a long period of time.

Connect the small plug of the power adaptor to the baby unit and the other end to the electrical outlet (110V/60Hz).NOTEOnly use the enclosed power adaptor (6V DC / 1000mA).2. Slide the power switch to the ON position. The power LED will light up in green.3. To switch off the baby unit, slide the power switch to OFF position.2.3 Parent unit battery InstallationBlack Red

Getting started 9ENGLISH1. Loosen the screw in a counterclockwise direction using a small screwdriver. Remove the battery cover.2. Insert the wire tab of the rechargeable battery pack into the contact slot as shown above and fit the battery pack into the compartment. 3. Close the battery compartment and tighten the screw in a clockwise direction.4. Press p to turn ON the parent unit. - It will take a few seconds to start up the unit.5. Press and hold p to turn OFF the parent unit.NOTEWhen the battery level is low, the power LED will turn orange and will flash. Charge the battery pack for at least 15 hours before using on battery power only.NOTEWhen the unit is powered up with either power adaptor or using the rechargeable battery pack, the LED will light up in green. If both power adaptor and rechargeable battery pack are used, the LED will light up in red.2.4 Parent unit power supply1. Connect the small plug of the power adaptor to the parent unit and the other end to the electrical outlet (110V/60Hz).NOTEOnly use the enclosed power adaptor (6V DC / 1000mA).

10 Getting started2. Press p to switch ON the parent unit. The power LED will light up in green.3. Press and hold p to turn OFF the parent unit.NOTEOnce the baby and parent units are switched on, the display on the parent unit will show the video captured by the baby unit.When there is no connection or out of range, the icon on the LCD display will flash and the parent unit will beep continuously. Move the parent unit closer to the baby unit until the link is re-established.2.5 RegistrationThe baby monitor is already pre-registered upon your purchase. You do not need to re-register it again unless the baby unit loses its link with the parent unit. To re-register your baby monitor, follow the procedure below:1. Switch off both the baby and parent units.2. Press and hold m, and then press p on the parent unit at the same time to switch it on. The parent unit is in registration mode.3. Cover the camera lens on the baby unit with a black cloth or bag and then switch it on.4. Wait for the 2 units to search and establish the link.5. Remove the cover on the baby unit.The registration is complete when the display screen on the parent unit captures the video from the baby unit’s camera.

Using the Baby Monitor MBP353.1 Setting up• Place the camera in a convenient location and point the lens of the camera towards the area you want to monitor.• Tilt the head of the baby unit up or down to your desired position until the parent unit gets a good reception of the baby.NOTEDo not place the camera within baby’s reach! If there is interference on the picture or sound, try moving the units to different locations, and ensure they are not close to other electrical equipment.3.2 Night visionThe camera has 8 high-intensity infrared LEDs for picking up clear images in the dark. When the built-in photo sensor detects a low level of ambient light, the LEDs will automatically activate and the screen on the parent unit will display in black and white.3.3 Talk functionPress and hold t on the Parent unit to talk to your baby through the Baby unit loudspeaker. The symbol will be displayed in the middle of the LCD screen. NOTEThe lullaby will stop playing if the Talk function is activated.3.4 Adjusting the volume of the parent unitPress < and > to adjust the volume of the parent unit during normal operations.

12 Using the Baby Monitor MBP353.5 Playing a lullaby for your babyYou can remotely activate a lullaby to be played on the baby unit.1. Press i once on the parent unit to play the lullaby. Press i again to pause playback.2. To select another lullaby, press j during playback. There are 5 lullabies available for selection, indicated by 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. 3. To play all lullabies, press j until is displayed on the LCD screen. TIPSDuring the first 10 seconds of lullaby playback, pressing < or > will adjust the lullaby volume of the baby unit.Pressing < or > after 10 seconds of lullaby playback will adjust the volume of the parent unit.

Press < and > to adjust the LCD brightness level to 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 (the default setting is 3). The LCD brightness will be adjusted accordingly.3. Press m repeatedly to exit.4.2 Temperature display (ºC or ºF)1. Press m repeatedly until appears on the LCD screen.2. Press < and > to change the temperature display to ºC, ºF or OFF (the default setting is ºC). The temperature unit and reading will be changed accordingly. 3. Press m repeatedly to exit.NOTEIf the temperature goes above 39ºC (102ºF), appears on the LCD screen.If the temperature goes below 15ºC (59ºF), appears on the LCD screen.4.3 Night Light1. Press m repeatedly until appears on the LCD screen.2. Press < to turn the Baby unit Night Light ON or press > to turn the Night Light OFF. The night lights on the baby unit will be switched on and off accordingly.3. Press m repeatedly to exit.

14 MBP35 Parent Unit Menu Options4.4 Voice ActivationThe sound detection sensitivity level (VOX) of the Baby Monitor can be adjusted. If the baby is a quiet sleeper, the sensitivity level can be increased so that minor disturbances can be detected and transmitted to the parent unit.1. Press m repeatedly until VOX appears on the LCD screen.Press < and > to adjust the VOX level to OFF, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 (the default setting is OFF). When the VOX function is on (level 1 to 5), the VOX LED will be turned on, and the LCD screen will switch off after a few seconds if the detected sound is below the level selected.Note: Level 5 is the most sensitive and so will need to be the quietest before the LCD will switch off.2. Press m repeatedly to exit.NOTEThe LCD screen on the parent unit will be switched back on when the sound level of the baby reaches the VOX threshold or when any key on the parent unit is pressed.

Disposal of the device (environment)At the end of the product lifecycle, you should not dispose of this product with normal household waste, but take the product to a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. The symbol on the product, user’s guide and/or box indicates this.Some of the product materials can be re-used if you take them to a recycling point. By reusing some parts or raw materials from used products you make an important contribution to the protection of the environment.Please contact your local authorities in case you need more information on the collection points in your area.Dispose of the batteries in an environmentally-friendly manner according to your local regulations.

16 Cleaning6. CleaningClean the MBP35 with a slightly damp cloth or with an anti-static cloth. Never use cleaning agents or abrasive solvents.Cleaning and care• Do not clean any part of the product with thinners or other solvents and chemicals –- this may cause permanent damage to the product which is not covered by the Warranty. When necessary, clean it with a damp cloth.• Keep your MBP35 away from hot, humid areas or strong sunlight, and don’t let it get wet.• Every effort has been made to ensure high standards of reliability for your MBP35. However, if something does go wrong, please do not try to repair it yourself –- contact Customer Service for assistance.

Unplug the units’ electrical power, including the batteries and both mains adapters, then plug them back in.• Is the unit turned on? Press and release p on the parent unit to turn it on.RegistrationIf the baby unit has lost its link with the parent unit• Try recharging or replacing the batteries.• If the baby unit is too far away it may be going out of range, so move the baby unit closer to the parent unit.• Reset the units by unplugging the units’ batteries and mains electrical power. Wait for around 15 seconds and plug it back in again. Allow up to one minute for the baby unit and the parent unit to synchronise.• See “2.5 Registration” if there is a need to re-register the units.InterferenceNoise interference on your parent unit• Your baby and parent units may be too close. Move them further away from each other. • Make sure there is at least 1 metre between the 2 units to avoid feedback howling.• If the baby unit is too far away it may be going out of range, so move the baby unit closer to the parent unit.• Make sure the baby and parent units are not near other electrical equipment, such as a television, computer or cordless/mobile telephone.
