11 IntroductionCongratulations on your purchase of the 2001URF wireless keyboard andmouse kit! This keyboard and mouse kit will finally free you of theconstraints of your desktop by providing a wireless connection betweenthe keyboard or mouse and your PC. Pass around the keyboard ormouse during meetings without having to bother about a cableblocking your way or write e-mails and surf the Internet from the comfortof your living room couch!The 2001URF keyboard and mouse kit consists of a keyboard, a mouseand a receiver. The receiver is connected to your PC through a cable.The keyboard and mouse can operate freely within a radius of at least3.28 feet (1meter) from the receiver, which itself has a maximum rangefrom your PC of around 3.28 feet (1meter). The wireless keyboardcontains seven Internet keys and one ACPI key to make you save morehand-movement and access to Internet much quickly. Beside, thewireless mouse uses an optical sensor instead of mouse ball. The precisesensor detects motion on hundreds of surfaces, including wood, plastic,or even your pants leg, and prevents you from the interference causedby dust. Because the 2001URF kit uses radio frequencies to transmit thewireless signals it has no constrictions on viewing angles such as withinfrared devices like your TV’s remote control, etc.Besides providing unprecedented freedom of movement whenoperating the keyboard or mouse, the 2001URF kit also offers even moreextra functionality by introducing 7 dedicated buttons for often usedInternet browser functions as well as a Sleep button. (Please note: TheInternet keys work only under Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or laterversion!). Make sure the receiver is placed in a location where is relatively freeof strong electromagnetic or transmission sources in order to ensureoptimal reception of the keyboard and mouse signal.ID SettingThis wireless keyboard kits have 256 sets ID in each unit. This extra ID-recognition function helps to protect against interference from other RFkeyboards in the same environment.After completing the hardware installation you must set the ID of thereceiver, mouse and keyboard.Step 1: Press the ID button on the side of the receiver once. 8Remarks:1. You must follow the procedure above to set the ID of receiver,mouse and keyboard. Once the receiver ID button is pressed youhave 35(30??) seconds to complete the entire process, or you willneed to begin again.2. Once the keyboard and receiver are plugged in, the yellowreceiver light will flash. Once the ID is set, it will remain steadily lit..3. When changing the batteries of keyboard or mouse, there is noneed to reset all the ID’s. Simply reset one of them.4. When the keyboard batteries are low, a battery low icon willshow on the right-bottom corner of the Windows task bar instead ofthe KeyMaestro driver icon .5. When the mouse batteries are low, a battery low icon willshow on the right-bottom corner of the Windows task bar instead ofthe KeyMaestro driver icon .6. The optical mouse is designed to conserve battery life and will entera power saving “Sleep” mode if it is inactive for 20 minuties. Click abutton on the mouse to wake it up. Move the mouse does not wakeit up.Detachable PalmrestAt your discretion, you may choose to connect the palmrest withkeyboard.To connect the palmrest with the keyboard please follow figure 1 &figure 2.Figure 1

104 Software InstallationAfter finishing the hardware installation as described above and startingup your PC, you should be able to immediately take advantage of thewireless function of the 2001URF wireless keyboard and mouse kit. If thekeyboard and mouse are not working properly, then please checkChapter 6 Troubleshooting for tips on how to solve your problem.4.1 Keyboard Driver InstallationIf your operating system is Windows ME, Windows 2000 orWindows XP, you can immediately take advantage of theextra function buttons on the keyboard (except ‘Battery Low’ and‘LED Light’ functions). But, if your operating system is Windows 98,you will have to install the keyboard driver software to takeadvantage of these functions. The keyboard driver program islocated on the driver CD included in the box.1. Insert the driver CD into your computers CD-ROM drive.2. Run the setup.exe in the \keyboard-driver directory of the driverCD.3. Follow the on screen instructions to finish the installationprocedure.4. For detailed information, please refer to the read.htm file.4.2 Mouse Driver InstallationIn order to take advantage of the special shortcut buttonfunctionality of the mouse, you will have to install the mousedriver which is located on the driver CD included in the box.1. 115 Using Keyboard and Mouse5.1 Using the KeyboardBesides the usual keys, this keyboard also has extra-dedicated keys,which provide the following ACPI and Internet functionality:Please note: In order to use these keys under Windows 98, it isnecessary to have the KeyMaestro keyboard driver installed. Pleaserefer to Chapter 4 for more information.Sleepput your system to sleep (power-saving)mode. Any key will wake up your systemand return to the previous working status.Back return to the last page you viewed.Forward view the next page you viewed before.Stop If a page you are trying to view is takingtoo long to open, click this button to stop.Search open the Internet search menu.Web/Home open the default Internet browser.Favorites open the Internet “My Favorite” folder.E-mailopen the default program you use formail.You may select Tools→Internet→Options→Programs→Email to change the defaultsettings of Internet Explorer.For detailed information about the driver, please read the onlinehelp by clicking the KeyMaestro Keyboard icon and selectingHelp.
125.2 Using the Mouse DriverAfter installing the mouse driver as described in Chapter 4 you willbe able to start up the Mouse Control Panel by left double-clickingon the KeyMaestro Mouse icon in the Windows task bar. Thisshould appear after restarting your machine. You can also invokethe Mouse Control Panel by choosing Start→Programs→MMaestro→KeyMaestro Mouse Driver.The Mouse Control Panel (KeyMaestro Mouse Properties) windowconsist of the following folders: Magic folder:allows you to change thebrowsing speed and thedirection of the browsingbutton. Pointers folder:allows you to choose yourfavorite pointer shape. Cursor folder:select the special cursorfunctions such as trails foryour cursor or loopfunction. Action folder:re-define the mouse keys function and speed. Settings folder:re-assign mouse button shortcuts and/or toggle Office 97mouse mode on/off. About folder:shows the current driver version information. Orientation folder:allows you to setup the angle of the mouse when moving

15Quick Jump Function IntroductionAlso, after installing the mouse driver and invoking theKeyMaestro mouse driver program you will have access to 9special function icons by pressing the scroll wheel once. These 9functions are:Mouse Control PanelActivate the Mouse Control PanelMenu.Control PanelActivate the “Control Panel” window.Horizontal Scroll BarSet the cursor to the horizontal scrollbar to scroll the documenthorizontally. (the function does notsupport Windows XP)Vertical Scroll BarSet the cursor to the vertical scroll barto scroll the document vertically. (thefunction does not support WindowsXP)Windows ExplorerActivate the 'Windows Explorer'window.Size GripAdjust the frame size of the windowsyou opened (the function does notsupport full screen. 176 TroubleshootingWhen the keyboard or the mouse doesn't work properly, please checkthe following:1. Take out the receiver’s connector and check the receiver’s plug forpossible broken pins. If the plugs appear normal then reinsert theplugs on your PC.2. Check that if the batteries in the keyboard and mouse are installedcorrectly. Make sure the polarity of the batteries corresponds withthe polarity signs in the battery compartment.3. Replace the batteries to make sure the batteries are not low inpower.4. It is strongly recommended to place the receiver in front of themonitor in order to prevent signal disturbance from the monitor.5. If your PC system’s BIOS setup has options for the keyboard or mouse,make sure they are set to default settings. If you are not familiar withthe BIOS, refer to your PC’s manual for more information.6. If you have problems using the sleep button, make sure that thepower management in your PC has been enabled both in the BIOSand in Windows. For more information on your PC’s BIOS settings,refer to your PC’s manual. For more information on how to enablethe power management features in Windows, refer to your Windowsmanual.7. If you have problems using the extra browser buttons and/or thespecial mouse functions, ensure you have installed the keyboardand mouse driver correctly as described in this manual’s Chapter 4:Software Installation. Also check your hardware requirements meetthose listed in this manual.8. Use the mouse only on a clean, flat, non-slippery surface in order toensure smooth and accurate cursor action. If you use a mouse-pad,choose a light-colored one, not a dark one, to use less batterypower.9. Keep all items away from direct sunlight, moisture, dirt, extreme heatand abrasive chemical (cleaning) solutions.10. Should the receiver, the keyboard or mouse become accidentallyimmersed or splashed by liquids, switch off your PC immediately,
18unplug all items and refer to your dealer for further assistance. Inthese cases please refrain from using any of the items beforeconsulting with your dealer!If above troubleshooting suggestions still do not solve your problem thenplease refer to your direct dealer for technical support.
